College Football Week 3 Top 25 Schedule and Odds

  • No. 2 Alabama at South Carolina (+25, O/U 58) | 3:30pm | CBS
The Cocks and Crimson Tide haven’t crossed paths since 2010. Will Muschamp has done a yeoman’s job of reigniting the Gamecocks’ football program, but he just so happens to coach a team in a conference and division that numerous teams that are expected to compete for spots in the College Football Playoff. South Carolina will be starting a true freshman quarterback in Ryan Hilinski and Bruce said he is in for a rough game against Alabama and that the Crimson Tide should roll.
  • No. 19 Iowa (-1.5, O/U 43) at Iowa State, 4 p.m. ET (FS1)
Bruce believes that Iowa is a team to watch this season and he likes them in this contest against the Cyclones. Iowa State just barely survived last week and Bruce thinks the Hawkeyes are the right side in this one.
  • Arizona State at No. 18 Michigan State (-14.5, O/U 41.5) | 4pm | FOX
Many people laughed when they heard Herm Edwards came out of retirement to take over ASU’s football program last season, but you certainly don’t hear any cackles now after the Sun Devils went onto win seven games and gave an excellent Fresno State team its money’s worth in the Las Vegas Bowl. But what will he bring in year two of the undertaking? Though Michigan State has regressed a bit over the last two seasons, Mark Dantonio is still one of the best coaches in the conference and country. Bruce is leery about taking the points with Arizona State.
  • Pittsburgh at No. 13 Penn State (-17.5), 12 p.m. ET (ABC)
Penn State and Pittsburgh could be playing their last game for awhile with no meetings scheduled beyond Saturday’s tilt. The Nittany Lions opened as a 17-point favorite on the college football betting line. Brian points out that Penn State may not be as good as everyone thinks and Bruce tends to agree. Both Brian and Bruce are looking at Pittsburgh in this one.
  • No. 24 USC (-5, O/U 56.5) at BYU, 3:30 p.m. ET (ABC)
Bruce believes that BYU’s defense will give USC a good test in this one. Bruce would like to see Clay Helton and the Trojans keep winning to cause the USC administration some problems, but he likes the Cougars in this game.
  • Hawaii at No. 23 Washington (-21, O/U 59), 7:30 p.m. ET (PAC12)
Washington is coming off a surprising loss last week to California so they should bounce back, but Bruce is not sure just how good the Huskies are. Bruce thinks this is a lot of points, so Hawaii might be worth a play.
  • Stanford at No. 17 UCF (-8.5, O/U 61.5) 3:30 p.m. ET (ESPN)
The wise guys are all over the total in this game, betting the over and Bruce agrees. This is a tough spot for Stanford on the road against a UCF squad that wants to impress against a Pac-12 team.

Brian and Bruce also take a look at the game between Liberty and Buffalo and the game between UNLV and Northwestern. Brian also has an interesting live betting recommendation for this contest.
