Big 12 Futures Odds Betting-The Kansas State Wildcats Demand Attention
February 1, 2023AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Matchup Picks
February 1, 2023The ACC sure feels a lot different now that Coach K is no longer in Durham, eh? After sending two teams to the Final Four a short season ago, the conference doesn’t look to have any dominant teams at the top of the current standings. More known for churning out football teams worthy of qualifying for the CFP every season, Clemson currently sits atop the heap as the only team to amass 10 conference wins heading into February. Even so, they’re still not the odds-on favorite to win the conference at this juncture. That distinction goes to the Virginia Cavaliers who are now -167 chalk to win the regular season title after clocking in at +150 when last reporting on the ACC three weeks ago.
As mediocre the conference has proven to be, Tony Bennett’s troops certainly have it in them to win the ACC for the sixth time in the last 10 years. But who wants to bet on the odds-on favorite at their worst price point of the season?! Let’s take a deep dive into the current offerings at BetRivers Sportsbook and see if we can’t hitch our wagon to the team that comes from out of nowhere to shock the college basketball betting world!

The Canes have amassed a 17-5 overall record and gone 8-4 in conference play. Their wins have come against Louisville, NC State, Virginia, Notre Dame, Boston College, Syracuse, Florida State, and Virginia Tech. They went 7-1 against the college basketball odds in those contests! The losses came against Georgia Tech (76-70), NC State (83-81 OT), Duke (68-66), and PITT ( 71-68). As you can see, Jim Larranaga’s kids are 17 points away from being undefeated in ACC play.
I absolutely love the quadrant of Isaiah Wong (16.2 PPG/4.7 RPG/3.6 APG), Jordan Miller (15.0 PPG/5.6 RPG), Norchad Omier (13.5 PPG/10.0 RPG), and Nijel Pack (12.0 PPG). These guys are the main figure heads of the country’s 40th ranked scoring offense that goes for 78+ points per game and shoots better than 48 percent from the field (No. 20). If only the club could get a better handle of rebounding at the defensive end of the court (No. 296). That being said, it only sits two games off the pace set by UVA and already has a win under the belt against the Cavaliers. This squad would do itself a major solid if it gets through the next four games @Clemson, Duke, Louisville, @UNC with a winning record. Do that and they’ll race to the top of the leaderboard. Should it go into Littlejohn and score the win on Saturday, their odds to win the ACC will be cut in half – BUY NOW!
Duke Blue Devils +2300
While it hasn’t been pretty for those that’ve backed Jon Scheyer’s squad against the spread with the Dookies managing just eight point spread covers through 14 tries, things look to be heading in the right direction in Durham. Since dropping a 72-64 decision at Clemson back on January 14, the Blue Devils have rattled off wins in three of their last four games against Miami, Georgia Tech, and Wake Forest. The lone defeat came in the form of a tough 78-75 loss to VTECH in Blacksburg. 16-6 overall and winning seven of 11 ACC matchups, the major litmus test has arrived for Jeremy Roach and co. with North Carolina, @Miami, and @Virginia the next three games on the docket.
The defense is what’s really set this team apart in the early stages with the offense still attempting to find its way. The unit has only conceded 63.7 points per game and ranks No. 34 in efficiency per the current Pomeroy Ratings. Kyle Filipowski and Ryan Young continue to hammer the glass with the former chiming in with 9.4 rebounds per game and the latter 6.6. Its ability to dominate the offensive glass (No. 2) and defend the perimeter (No. 30) has seen five of its last six games be decided by single digit point margins. If and when the offense ever comes around, the Blue Devils will challenge for the ACC’s regular season crown!
NC State Wolfpack +7000
I’ve come away extremely impressed with what Kevin Keats has been able to do with his butt firmly on the hot seat in Raleigh. Currently an eight-seed in Joe Lunardi’s Bracketology, I think there’s room for improvement here as favorable a schedule the Wolfpack gets to enjoy over the next few weeks. At 17-5 overall and 7-4 in ACC play, NC State can make a run at conference bragging rights during that stretch with games set to go against Florida State, Georgia Tech, @Virginia, @BC, and @Syracuse. I get that the three-game roady will be tough, but NCST is due for some positive regression playing away from PNC Arena and it might’ve just started after going into Wake Forest and escaping with the 79-77 win as 3-point dogs.
Terquavion Smith (18.5 PPG), Jarkel Joiner (16.8 PPG), and Casey Morsell (12.5 PPG) comprise one of the best guard trios in the conference, while bigs D.J. Burns (11.4 PPG/4.8 RPG) and Dusan Mahorcic (8.7 PPG/6.6 RPG) clean the glass and eat the scraps. Jack Clark and his 9.1 points and 7.3 rebounds per game are expected back onto the hardwood in early February. I got NCST favored to win seven of its final nine ACC skirmishes. Should it come out on top in the two games I got them dogged at UVA and Duke, this lottery ticket will make things very interesting!
