That will mean 17 teams will be competing for a chance to play for the ACC title in 2024. The Florida State Seminoles or Clemson Tigers have won the ACC title in 12 of the last 13 seasons and they are listed as the top two betting favorites entering this season. The Seminoles are listed as a slight favorite, with odds of +290 at Caesars while the Tigers are +310. The three darkhorse candidates are the Virginia Tech Hokies, Louisville Cardinals and North Carolina State Wolfpack. Let’s look at ACC title odds and ACC title picks.

Favorites
Florida State Seminoles +290
It has taken some time but FSU head coach Mike Norvell has turned the Seminoles into a consistent ACC title contender. The big reason Norvell has done well is the transfer portal, as he has had as much success as any coach in the country with transfers. He will look to do it again this season, as he will be replacing quarterback Jordan Travis with former Clemson and Oregon State quarterback DJ Uiagalelei. Other key transfers include Roydell Williams and Malik Benson from Alabama and Jaylin Lucas from Indiana. The Seminoles also boast defensive end Patrick Payton who is a contender to go No. 1 in next year’s NFL Draft.
Clemson Tigers +310
There are some serious questions about Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney and his ability to lead the Tigers back to the top of college football with the transfer portal. Swinney has been the opposite of Norvell in that he doesn’t embrace the transfer portal. Clemson is still good, as they are 40-12 in the last four years but they haven’t won a big bowl game since 2019. The Tigers have a good offense led by running back Phil Mafah, and their defense has linebacker Barrett Carter, but Swinney is missing out by not using the transfer portal.
Miami Hurricanes +400
The pressure is firmly on head coach Mario Cristobal this season. He is just 12-13 in his first two years at Miami. The good news for Miami is that Cristobal has used the transfer portal in a big way this season. Cam Ward should be a huge upgrade at quarterback for Miami and the Hurricanes also have Oregon State transfer Damien Martinez. Miami’s defense also looks good led by Tyler Baron and Rueben Bain Jr.
Darkhorse Contenders
Virginia Tech Hokies +600
The Hokies are the darkhorse pick of many people for 2024. They have almost everyone back from last year led by QB Kyron Drones who threw for over 2,000 yards and ran for over 800 yards. There is plenty of talent around him including Bhayshul Tuten. The defense also looks very good with Antwaun Powell-Ryland and Aeneas Peebles leading the way.
Louisville Cardinals +600
Jeff Brohm has done a nice job with Louisville and he has done well in the transfer portal brining in Texas Tech transfer Tyler Shough to be the starting quarterback. The defense should be decent with TJ Quinn and Devin Neal returning.
North Carolina State Wolfpack +625
The Wolfpack finished with a 6-2 league record in two of the past three seasons and they could do well this year as they don’t have to play Florida State or Miami. Coastal Carolina transfer Grayson McCall will take over at quarterback.
Longshots
All of the other teams are listed at double-digit odds. Perhaps SMU is worth a look as they were really good in the AAC last season. The key will be finding a way to split their first two games against FSU and Louisville. Also listed at odds of less than 40-1 are North Carolina and Syracuse but neither team has much appeal in terms of winning the conference.
ACC Title Pick
Of the three favorites I have to go with FSU. I think Swinney is being a stubborn mule about the transfer portal and it continues to cost him so I want no part of Clemson. I would take Miami if I trusted Cristobal but I don’t. That means FSU is the top choice to win the ACC this season. I don’t think there is enough value in any of the darkhorses or longshots to be worth a wager.Make your college football bets right now at Caesars.
