January 30, 2024The second Signature Event of 2024 will take place this week at the historic Pebble Beach Golf Links. World No. 2 Rory McIlroy is a slight favorite at Caesars at odds of +750, with World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler the second choice at +800. A total of 80 players will compete on Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill for the first two rounds and amateurs will also compete in the first two rounds. The final two rounds will be played at Pebble Beach with all 80 players in action, as there is no cut this week. Picking a winner on the PGA Tour in January was virtually impossible as the winner had odds of 150-1, 400-1, 300-1 and 125-1. It seems highly unlikely that we will see a big longshot win this week considering the strength of the field, but there is a ton of value in some big-name players this week. Let’s look at AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am odds and picks.

Favorite
Rory McIlroy +750
It was another golf betting favorite that lost last week as Xander Schauffele was never a threat to win. I say week after week that you can’t take favorites to win golf tournaments on the PGA Tour and make money. McIlroy will be making his season debut on the PGA Tour, as he played DP World Tour events to start the calendar year. I might consider Rory if he wasn’t the betting favorite, but I am not taking him at odds this low.
Golf Picks
Jordan Spieth +1800
I said earlier this year that I am going to be taking Spieth more often. He seems to have fixed his putting issues, as he ranks in the Top 10 on the PGA Tour in putting this season and Pebble Beach demands great putting. Spieth has always played well at Pebble Beach, including a win in 2017. He comes in playing well and I expect him to contend this week.
Max Homa +2000
There are not going to be many chances to get Homa to win a tournament at odds of 20-1. He has already won six times on the PGA Tour. He already has three top 14 finishes in three previous tries at Pebble and he comes in playing well with a Top 15 finish last week. I think Homa will be in the mix this week.
Matt Fitzpatrick +3300
If the weather is cold and wet and windy, and that is the early forecast, then Fitzpatrick is worth a look. He plays well in tough conditions and he has done well on courses where driving distance is not a big key to winning. I think Fitzpatrick has some value at this number.
Brian Harman +8000
The next two picks are going to be longshots simply based on putting. Harman is one of the top putters on the PGA Tour and he has shown in the past he can compete with the best players in the world and win. I will take a flyer on him at big odds.
Cam Davis +10000
The player who leads the PGA Tour in total putting is Davis so I am going to put him in here as a longshot simply because Pebble Beach is a course where putting is of extreme importance.
Kurt Kitayama +10000
Another big bomb for me this week is Kitayama. He proved last year that he can win big events, as he won the Arnold Palmer Invitational against a strong field. He has played well on tough courses in the past and he grew up in Northern California so he is accustomed to playing on Pebble Beach and Spyglass. I’ll take a shot on him at big odds.
