February 13, 2025Auburn Tigers at Alabama Crimson Tide Same Game Parlay Picks Recap
No. 1 Auburn secured a 94-85 outright victory as short road underdogs over No. 2 Alabama in a heated in-state showdown, maintaining its grip atop the SEC standings. Johni Broome led the Tigers with a solid 19-point, 14-rebound performance, regardless of getting nicked up late. Five other Auburn players registered double figures in scoring. Denver Jones contributed 16 points, Chad Baker-Mazara and Miles Kelly each added 15, Chaney Johnson had 14, and freshman Tahaad Pettiford chipped in 13 with some huge buckets that kept the Tide at an arm’s length when in comeback mode.
Alabama fought back from a double-digit deficit in the second half, but ultimately fell short. Mark Sears paced the Crimson Tide with 18 points, while Grant Nelson posted a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Labaron Philon and Aden Holloway also reached double figures with 10 points each. Auburn overcame foul trouble, with starter Dylan Cardwell fouling out after 12 minutes and Baker-Mazara exiting with just over two minutes left, but the latter still came up huge with six minutes left when he hit back-to-back baskets to put Auburn ahead for good.
Alabama, which entered shooting 34.4% from three, struggled mightily from deep, hitting just 5 of 26 (19.3%) attempted long range shots. And that right there was your ball game. I knew going in that the Crimson Tide would need to go berserk from deep knowing full well that the Tigers were the only one of the two teams marching a capable defense onto the hardwood. Seriously Mark Sears, 2-for-11—Come on Man!! On the plus side, Auburn took full advantage of Bama’s sieve-like defense converting at a 46+ percent clip allowing us to cash the second leg of this SGP on the over regardless of only 75 points hitting the board through the first 20. Due to the 104 combined points scored in the second half, the 179 point tally calmly exceeded the 172-point CBB betting odds in the closing minutes allowing us to get out of this one with the split.
Auburn Tigers at Alabama Crimson Tide Same Game Parlay Picks
Saturday afternoon’s college basketball same game parlay picks take us to the Coleman Coliseum in Tuscaloosa, AL for a must-see matchup between the No. 1 Auburn Tigers and No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide. Bruce Pearl’s Tigers bounced back nicely from incurring their first SEC loss by going into Vanderbilt and scoring the win and cover against the Commodores on Tuesday night. As for Nate Oats’ troops, the scoring barrage continued that same night in Austin where the Tide dropped 103 points on the Longhorns to lock down a seventh straight win.
These hated rivals split their two regular season meetings a year ago with both home teams holding serve. Bama scored the 79-75 win and cover as 3.5-point favorites with the combined score playing to an under. The rematch saw Auburn counter with a 99-81 revenge beating a few weeks later covering the 5.5-point spread with ease and the 180 combined points racing past the 161.5-point Over/Under. The Crimson Tide stand 7-3 straight up (SU) but only 4-6 against the spread (ATS) the last 10 times it hosted the Tigers with the under cashing at a 7-3 clip. Auburn Tigers
Denver Jones scored a game-high 21 points and Johni Broome chipped in with 17 and seven to allow for Auburn to avoid its first two-game skid of the year. The end result was an 80-68 triumph over Vanderbilt with the final margin of victory enough to cover the closing 9-point CBB odds. The Tigers shot a scorching hot 51.7% from the field and converted nine shots from long range. Though the Tigers had issues with the Dores’ length getting outrebounded 37-29, 12 forced turnovers helped the overall cause. So too did holding Vandy to a 3-of-17 showing from beyond the arc with Auburn’s 3-point defense one of the best in the country (#29).
In doing so, the Tigers remained perfect on the SEC road improving to 6-0 SU and 3-3 ATS tickling the twine for an average of 80 points per game. Armed with six double-digit scorers and by far the better of the two defenses in this matchup, Broome and co. will be looking to make a statement Saturday night.
Alabama Crimson Tide
The Crimson Tide continue to march out one of the most lethal offensive attacks witnessed, and I’ve been privy to taking in a ton of college basketball throughout my near 50 years on this rock. The bludgeoning came in waves against the Longhorns with Alabama exceeding the 100-point plateau for the 17th time to date by way of sinking 17 of 29 attempted long range shots. The Tide shot a blistering 65% from the field in the first half to take a commanding 49-31 lead into the break and never looked back.
Jarin Stevenson led the way with a team-high 22 points on 7-of-8 shooting, while Mark Sears added 18 points and a trio of assists. Most impressive however was the bench which did a ton of damage as well with three players going for double-digits led by Aden Holloway’s 18 with three splash downs from downtown. Per the most up to date Pomeroy Ratings, Auburn is the only offense that runs more efficiently than what the Crimson Tide brings to the hardwood every passing game.
Same Game Parlay Picks
Though Alabama pissed the ever living you know what out of me last Saturday night by coughing up the cover against Arkansas, I can’t help but go back to the well as locked in Oats’ kids are right now. While most of it has to do with the fact that I expect a heavy dose of home cooking to push the Tide over the top, there’s a few areas that Alabama holds a decided advantage in regardless of marching out a sieve-like defense.
Auburn has faced KenPom’s toughest schedule, but Alabama is right in the rearview at No. 2. The Tigers excel on the offensive glass, ranking 24th, but the Tide have been even better (#16). With Alabama playing at the fastest tempo in the country, expect plenty of transition opportunities and trips to the free-throw line. While Auburn boasts a strong defense (No. 17 per KenPom), it has a tendency to foul frequently (No. 265). Alabama ranks 18th in free throw rate and converts at over 70%, which could be the deciding factor, especially at home. Meanwhile, Auburn’s offense should have little trouble operating against Alabama’s 346th-ranked turnover defense, making for a high-scoring affair that sees the Tigers hang a crooked number in defeat.
