February 24, 2023College Basketball Parlay Picks for Tuesday, February 28, 2023
February 27, 2023Last we reported on the odds to win the college basketball national championship at PointsBet Sportsbook, we recommended taking a flier on the Miami Hurricanes (+6000) and making a couple dart throws with the Nevada Wolf Pack (+20000) and Texas Tech Red Raiders (+50000). The Canes odds have already fallen to 40-1 while the Red Raiders saw theirs get cut in half (+25000). Nevada held strong. With conference tournaments right around the corner, our full portfolio reads as such: K-State (+3300), Indiana (+6000), Texas (+2200), Alabama (+1000), Creighton (+5000), Texas A&M (+20000), Purdue (+1500), TCU (+4000), Xavier (+5000), Kentucky (+5000), and St. Mary’s (+8000). We beat the market on some and lost some value with others – win some, lose some!
While I love how the portfolio is situated, it can always get better. I’ve perused the current college basketball futures odds with a fine tooth comb and come up with a few more teams to invest in before the heat gets really turned up in a few weeks.

Connecticut Huskies +2200
It looks like Dan Hurley’s kids have settled down and rediscovered what got them out to such an impressive start to the 2022-23 college basketball betting season. If you remember, the UConn Huskies bolted out of the gates by rattling off 14 straight wins (11-2-1 ATS) before going down at Xavier on New Year’s Eve. The team would then go on to drop five of its next seven games with horrific losses incurred against St. John’s at home (-14.5) and Seton Hall on the road (-5). But since getting swept by the Musketeers at the end of January, the Huskies have rattled off wins five of the last six times it took to the hardwood with the lone defeat coming in the form of a 56-53 loss at Creighton in which it covered the 4.5-point spread.
Currently ranked No. 5 at KenPom even though it can finish fifth in the loaded Big East, I truly believe Jordan Hawkins and Co. are being severely overlooked by the betting market heading into March. It’s the most efficient team in the conference and its inside/outside game will give anyone it runs up against fits. On top of all that, Adama Sanogo and his mates lock it down at the defensive end where it allows fewer than 65.0 points per game while holding opponents to 45.5 and 29.8 percent success rates from two (No. 23) and three point (No. 17) range. I don’t know about you, but this team looks like the “Real Deal Holyfield” to me!
Shaka Smart’s Golden Eagles have been one of the bigger surprises of the 2022-23 college basketball batting season. Marquette hit the board 165-1 underdogs to cut down the nets as well as +4250 pups to cash in on the Big East regular season title odds. Fast forward three-plus months; their odds of winning it all have been cut to 40-1 and the Big East title odds have been taken off the board at PointsBet. Congrats if you had the foresight to snag a piece when they were available!
This team isn’t the biggest. It isn’t the fastest. Heck, it might not even be the most talented. It most definitely is competitive however in that it never quits. Check for example the most recent game at Creighton that saw it trail by eight at the break only to fight back and score the 73-71 outright win to sweep the season rivalry from the Bluejays and lock up the first outright Big East title in program history. Kam Jones and Olivier-Maxence Prosper are a nasty guard duo that could propel this team to an unforeseen run at the title. Should that be the case, it only makes sense to grab a piece now before any value is lost.
Arkansas Razorbacks +5000
With Nick Smith Jr. now healthy and back in the fold, I expect the Arkansas Razorbacks to be extremely under seeded once the Field of 68 is announced. Forced to deal with numerous injuries all season, the Hogs are now the healthiest they’ve been since November. The recent results dictate as such with wins tallied in seven of the last 10 games. This is a team that owns recent double-digit wins over Kentucky and Texas A&M. Eric Musselman’s squad figured to be a player at the outset of the season. Just take a look at its opener to win it all (+1400).
While Trevon Brazile won’t be suiting up the remainder of this season, I think there’s still plenty of meat on the bone to propel the Razorbacks on a magical run. Should it close the season out strong @Alabama, @Tennessee, and back home in the rematch with Kentucky, the Razorbacks odds will get slashed. If they struggle, they’ll fatten up. Either way, you’re going to want a share or two heading into the Madness!
