February 23, 2023UFC Vegas 70: Krylov vs. Spann Picks
February 24, 2023With the 2022-23 NCAA basketball betting season coming to a close and the conference tournaments right around the corner, the time has come to start putting together a game plan for the upcoming NCAA Tournament. BetRivers Sportsbook is currently offering up odds on teams qualifying for the Big Dance as well as the seed range of team’s already expected to be within the Field of 68. This piece will concentrate on the latter with a good amount of value to be had when taking a gander at Joe Lunardi’s Bracketology forecast and combining it with the Pomeroy Ratings and amount of Quadrant 1 wins each team has churned out. Let’s see if we can’t pad the bankroll for the Madness of March by cashing in once the bracket is announced!
Bet NCAA Tournament Seeding Odds at BetRivers Sportsbook
Iowa State Cyclones Under 3.5 +150
The Iowa State Cyclones made a surprise run to the Elite Eight under T.J. Otzelberger’s watch last season. This year’s team looks primed for another deep run with it running up against arguably the toughest competition in the country game in and game out. KenPom currently has Gabe Kalscheur and his mates ranked No. 19 overall, while Lunardi has the Clones clocking in with the No. 3 seed in the West Region.
The remainder of the regular season shakes out extremely well for the Clones who get to play two of their final three games in the comforts of Hilton Coliseum. With the team much better at home (14-1) than on the road (1-8), it will allow ISU to enter the Big 12 tourney feeling good. Win at least one game in KC, and Iowa State should at the very least hold onto its current forecasted seeding.
Arkansas Razorbacks Over 8.5 +125
As rock solid a brand of ball Eric Musselman’s Hogs have put forth since the end of January, it’s tough to fade the Razorbacks on the NCAA Tourney seeding odds at BetRivers. But alas, it must be done. I just don’t think there’s enough time remaining for Nick Smith Jr. and his mates to make up enough ground to acquire better than a No. 8 seed.
The end of season schedule is gross with games lined up @Alabama, @Tennessee, and then back home against Kentucky. I could eat my words if a run is made in the SEC Tourney, but it’s a chance I’m willing to take at this rate of return.
Northwestern Wildcats Under 6 -115
Chris Collins deserves major consideration for B1G Coach of the Year honors for the job he’s done in Evanston to this point of the season. Ousting Matt Painter for bragging rights will be tough, but he deserves it in my book.
Currently owners of the No. 6 seed in the West per Bracketology, it’s highly possible we push this wager provided the Northwestern Wildcats don’t go HAM and sweep their four remaining games @Illinois, @Maryland, Penn State, and @Rutgers. Even if its splits, the team’s six Quad 1 wins will have it in line to land a fifth or better seed if it makes a run in the B1G Tourney. This experienced team is one to keep an eye on come the Madness Regardless of the seed it ultimately lands!
Creighton Blue Jays Under 5.5 -115
Going into Tuesday night’s home tilt against Marquette, the Blue Jays were prospective owners of the No. 4 seed in the South Region. After pissing away an 8-point halftime lead and eventually falling to the Golden Eagles 73-71, Trey Alexander and Co. are now expected to land the No. 5 seed with three games remaining on the regular season docket.
Now ranked just in back of Marquette by the Pomeroy Ratings (No. 12) and owners of just four Quad 1 wins, another loss will likely push Greg McDermott’s kids to the No. 6 line or worse. But I’m a believer in Creighton and think there’s still a high probability of upward ascension provided the team closes the regular season out against @Villanova, Georgetown, and @DePaul in style and follows it up with a deep run in the Big East Tournament.
