In the college football national championship futures market, BetMGM’s largest liabilities are on Ohio State, Colorado, and Georgia. Of all the teams to win the national title, Ohio State has the most handle (35.8%) and the most tickets (23.8%). At BetMGM, the Buckeyes’ chances of winning the title have moved from +700 to +375. The only team with lower national championship chances than Ohio State is Georgia (+350).

Caleb Downs, a former Alabama safety, was one of the four players the Buckeyes added among the top 15 players available in the transfer portal this offseason. He is thought to be an outstanding potential NFL talent and was named the top player in the portal by several recruiting-focused magazines.

The Buckeyes recruited Julian Sayin, a former quarterback from Alabama, and Will Howard, a former quarterback from Kansas State, with Kyle McCord now at Syracuse. Unlike McCord, he is a seasoned starter with superior athleticism.
Even with Oregon joining the conference, the Buckeyes have one of the most talented rosters in the nation, and Jim Harbaugh’s departure from Michigan for the NFL gives them a chance to reclaim their top spot in the Big Ten. The Buckeyes appear to be a real title contender if the quarterback position improves.
The inaugural season of Deion Sanders as the head of a Power Five program commenced with great excitement. Thanks in large part to quarterback Shedeur Sanders and his teammates’ outstanding offensive efforts, the Buffaloes jumped out to a 3-0 start, defeating TCU, Nebraska, and Colorado State. Then, Colorado’s 2023 season fell apart. The Buffaloes finished the season 4-8 with two losses coming by more than 30 points, winning just once in their final nine games.

On Colorado win total bets, around 80% of handle is placed on the over 5.5 wins, which currently has odds of -125 on BetMGM. A Colorado team that wins more than 5.5 games is much more likely than Deion Sanders’ squad contending for a national title. The Buffaloes are ranked #1 in the country by On3’s Team Transfer Portal Index, despite not being predicted to contend for a national championship. The measure, which suggests Colorado’s new arrivals more than make up for the team’s departures, is meant to provide a notion of how much a team has improved through the portal.
The Buffaloes might appear better in 2024 and won’t have to play against teams like Oregon and USC now that they’re in the Big 12. Colorado is still a longshot to win the Big 12 at +3000 at BetMGM, behind a number of other teams.
