December 6, 2024Blues at Oilers Same Game NHL Parlay Recap – Saturday, December 7th
Our same game parlay for the game between the St. Louis Blues and Edmonton Oilers was a loser on Saturday, December 7th as the Oilers beat the Blues 4-2. The total was a winner, as the game went under 6.5 goals but the Blues were never in the game, as Edmonton rolled to an early lead and never looked back. It was the first regulation loss for the Blues under head coach Jim Montgomery. Let’s look at our Blues at Oilers Same Game parlay recap from Saturday, December 7th.
On Saturday night, December 7th, the Edmonton Oilers defeated the St. Louis Blues 4-2 for their second consecutive victory, led by Connor McDavid’s goal and assist. The Oilers, who have won five of their previous six games, also had goals from Corey Perry, Zach Hyman, and Troy Stecher, as well as two assists from Leon Draisaitl. A total of 29 shots were stopped by Stuart Skinner.
The Blues had their two-game winning streak snapped although they got goals from Dylan Holloway and Jake Neighbours. Additionally, St. Louis, under by coach Jim Montgomery, suffered their first loss in regulation in six games (4-1-1). Jordan Binnington recorded seventeen saves.
Holloway, a forward, and defenseman Philip Broberg made their first trips back to Edmonton since becoming restricted free agents and joining St. Louis. The offer sheets could not be met by the cap-strapped Oilers. Career highs for goals, assists, and points have already been reached by Broberg (two goals, ten assists) and Holloway (eight goals, eight assists).
McDavid has scored 27 points in his past 13 games after scoring 10 points in his first 11 games. His second period assist tied Mario Lemieux’s career-high total of 1992 and his 123rd of the 2024 calendar year (including playoffs). The only player with more assists in a calendar year is Wayne Gretzky.
Five minutes into the 2nd period, Broberg’s clearing effort smashed off a teammate into the slot, and McDavid picked it up and fired it past Binnington’s legs for his 13th goal of the year, giving the Oilers a two-goal lead. McDavid scored his 29th unassisted goal in his career.
Hyman scored three goals in his first 20 games this season after playing in a career-high 54 games the previous one. Since coming back from a five-game injury layoff, he has now doubled his season total with three in two games.
Blues at Oilers Same Game NHL Parlay –– Saturday, December 7th
The St. Louis Blues visit the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night in a game that can be seen on Hockey Night in Canada on CBC. The Blues look like an entirely different team under new head coach Jim Montgomery so this should be an interesting test for St. Louis against Connor McDavid and the Oilers. St. Louis will be playing the third game of their western Canadian road trip, as they won in Winnipeg on Tuesday and they were in Calgary on Thursday. The Oilers will be playing the second game of a three-game homestand, as they hosted Columbus on Thursday night. St. Louis and Edmonton have split their last 10 meetings with four of those games going over, the total, five going under, with one push. Let’s look at the Blues vs. Oilers Same Game NHL Parlay picks.

NHL Free Picks – Same Game Parlay – St. Louis Blues at Edmonton Oilers
St. Louis Blues Team Overview
The Blues were 12-12-2 in their first 26 games with nine games going over, 14 going under with three pushes. I think you have to take that record with a grain of salt, as St. Louis has played much better under head coach Jim Montgomery and look like a different team. The Blues season stats have them averaging 2.5 goals per game and giving up 3.1 per contest. Those numbers have been dramatically improved since Montgomery took over. Jordan Kyrou leads the team in points and shots, while Jordan Binnington leads the team in goaltender wins and in goals against average.
Edmonton Oilers Team Overview
The Oilers were 13-10-2 in their first 25 games with 10 games going over the total, 14 going under, with one push. They are averaging 2.9 goals per game and giving up 3 goals per contest. Leon Draisaitl leads the team in points, while Connor McDavid leads the team in shots. Stuart Skinner leads the goaltenders in wins, while Calvin Pickard has the better goals against average.
Series Stats
As noted earlier, the teams have split their last 10 games overall with four games going over, five going under, with one push. The Blues have held their own on the road in Edmonton, splitting the last 10 games with three games going over, six going under, with one push. The Blues have won two of the last three in Edmonton and the two wins came at nice plus prices in NHL odds.
Blues at Oilers Same Game Parlay Pick
Why not continue to ride the Jim Montgomery express? The Blues have been excellent since Montgomery took over as head coach. There is no question that Montgomery knows how to win as that was all he did in Dallas and Boston. He is going to win in St. Louis with the Blues and it has already started. St. Louis has some talented players who were underperforming and it looks like the players have bought in to Montgomery’s system. The question with the Blues is whether or not goaltender Jordan Binnington can get back to the form he had a few years ago when the Blues won the Stanley Cup. If so, St. Louis is going to be a difficult team for opponents to deal with the rest of this season. The Blues still don’t score a ton of goals and despite all of the star power on the Oilers led by McDavid and Draisaitl, Edmonton has been a decent team to bet under the total this season. I’ll take the Blues at plus money and also play the game under the total.
