December 14, 2023Jake Paul gets back into the ring on Friday night in Orlando, as he takes on Andre August in a fight that can be seen on DAZN. Paul is 7-1 in his boxing career and he has four knockouts. August is 10-1-1 in his career and he has five knockouts. Paul has fought eight times and only one of those fights was against a real boxer and in that fight, Paul lost by split decision to Tommy Fury. Paul is listed as a big favorite in boxing odds at the BetRivers sportsbook.
Boxing Odds at BetRivers
Jake Paul -625
Andrew August +400
Paul is listed as a big favorite to win this fight on Friday. Paul continues to try and show that he is a real boxer. All of his previous wins have come against former MMA fighters. This fight against August will at least be against a real boxer. Paul did look pretty good against Tommy Fury, but he still dropped a split decision. The question in this fight is whether or not August is any good. August is 10-1-1 in his career, but he hasn’t fought anyone of note.
Paul said to the media that his goal is to become a world champion and he needs fights like this one. “This is my road to becoming a world champion,” Paul said to the media, “When I’ve said that and uttered those words, I think people took it as a joke or, ‘He’s just saying that to market himself or make himself a bigger fighter or ruffle feathers and get media headlines and stuff,’ but they didn’t actually think I was being serious. I’m dead serious. That is what I’m going to do and this is the step in that direction. “We’ve done the big pay-per-views. We’ve generated $200 million in sales, and this is now taking a step back from like business, and MMA fighters, and big names, to just grow my experience, to stay sharp, to elevate my level of opposition and to fight real pro boxers who have been doing this their whole life.”
August said that people need to start giving Paul respect as a boxer. “Boxing is boxing, man. Anything can happen,” August said to the media. “… Jake is a boxer himself. Everyone needs to stop saying he’s just a YouTuber. This guy has actually been putting in work. He has real boxers in his corner that are actually training him, people that have way more experience than I have. He’s doing what he needs to do to become whatever he needs to become.”
Total Rounds
The fight is scheduled for 8 rounds and the odds favor the fight going the distance. The odds are listed at 6.5 with the over listed at -200 at BetRivers sportsbook. If you think the fight will go the distance you can lay -135. You can get +104 on the fight not to go the distance.
Boxing Props
You can also bet on boxing props for this fight at BetRivers. You can bet on either fighter to win by KO or by decision. Paul is listed at -112 to win by decision and he is +163 to win by KO, TKO or DQ. August is +540 to win by KO, TKO or DQ. He is listed at +1800 to win by decision. You can also bet on the exact round the fight will end in and the winning fighter. For example, if you think Paul will win by KO, TKO or DQ in the fifth round you could get +1050. The same props exist for August with much bigger prices since he is the underdog in this fight. For example, August is +3500 to win in round five by KO, TKO or DQ.
Boxing Picks
It is hard to make much of a case for August winning this fight. He has some limited experience, but he hasn’t fought any name fighters. Paul should win this fight, but I can’t lay the big price. August has gone on record saying that both he and Paul have decent power, so perhaps taking a shot at the rounds going under is worth considering at plus money.
