The Tennessee Volunteers, led by manager Tony Vitello are loaded with talent. They won the SEC Tournament and head into the College World Series as the team to beat. They are followed closely by Texas A&M who is led by manager Jim Schlossnagle. The Aggies were the No. 1 team before the SEC Tournament but they were knocked out early on. They are still very talented and very capable of winning it all. A total of six SEC teams have odds of less than 20-1, including last year’s champion LSU Tigers. One of the teams that is outside of the SEC that could make some noise is North Carolina, as they have odds less than 20-1 along with Wake Forest who lost in the semifinals last year.
Favorites
Tennessee Volunteers +500
The Volunteers are the top ranked team in the country. They boast an impressive record of 46-11 overall and at home they were 35-3. The problem for the Vols is that on the road they were just 9-6 and just 2-2 at neutral sites. Their starting rotation is led by Drew Beam and Zander Sechrist. The Volunteers will not have the top pitching staff at the College World Series but they can definitely hit, as they have five hitters batting at least .332. Christian Moore is hitting .382 with 27 home runs and 60 RBIs.
Texas A&M Aggies +550
The Aggies are 44-12 and a definite threat to win it all. They started the season 35-3 but they are just 5-4 in their last nine games. They are coming off a bad loss to Mississippi State in the SEC Tournament but they did beat Arkansas in two of three meetings. The Aggies are led by starting pitcher Ryan Prager who had an ERA of 2.47 in 14 starts this season. A&M has a lot of power in their lineup, as Jace Laviolette, Braden Montgomery, and Gavin Grahovac combined for 73 home runs. Montgomery is hitting .324 with 26 home runs and 80 RBIs, while Laviolette is hitting .319 with 28 home runs, and 73 RBIs.
Darkhorse
East Carolina +3500
A team that will go under the radar that might make some noise is East Carolina. They are listed with odds of +3500 to win it all. They are 41-13 and ranked No. 9 in the country. They won ten straight from mid-April to early May. They feature three starting pitchers with an ERA of 3.66 or less and they have four hitters batting .341 or higher.Check out the latest College World Series odds at Caesars.
