July 19, 2023Boxing Odds – Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue
July 20, 2023The Dallas Cowboys are one of the most popular NFL teams in the NFL regardless of not winning a Super Bowl title since the glory days of the mid-90s. But with a rich history of success, passionate fan base, and a talented roster, the Cowboys are always a team many clamor to watch and wager upon. The Dallas Cowboys finished the 2022-23 season with a 12-5 record and made it to the Divisional Round of the playoffs. Despite failing to reach the NFC title game for the 27th straight season, the Cowboys were one of the more well-rounded teams in the league, ranking top five in both EPA run and pass defense while finishing top 12 in both run and pass offense. Once again poised to contend for a Super Bowl title, this comprehensive preview will analyze the Dallas Cowboys’ schedule strength, season win total, and NFL odds to help you make informed decisions on how to attack their futures odds heading into the NFL betting season.
Dallas Cowboys: Squash that Turnover Bug!
QB Dak Prescott was excellent for most of the season, finishing as the league’s 9th best QB by EPA and 3rd best in success rate. However, his late season struggles with interceptions ultimately hurt the team costing it dearly in that 19-12 playoff loss to the 49ers. He ended up throwing 15 errant passes; a career-worst! The defense was once again attacking and opportunistic, finishing 3rd in EPA gained from turnovers. The Dallas Cowboys finished second in the NFC East, behind the division-winning Philadelphia Eagles. Despite their strong record, the Cowboys faced tough competition in their division, with the New York Giants also making the playoffs and the Washington Commanders just missing out. The NFC East is widely regarded as one of the toughest divisions in the league and 2023-24 looks to be no different.

Dallas Cowboys Season Wins Total: 9.5
The Cowboys’ NFL win total for the 2023-24 season is set at 9.5 with heavy -160 juice attached to the over per the current offerings at PointsBet Sportsbook. The Cowboys have a challenging schedule in 2023-24 regardless of Sharp Football Analysis ranking it the 18
Big D was active in the offseason, making several key acquisitions to bolster the roster. They traded for WR Brandin Cooks and CB Stephon Gilmore, both of whom are proven veterans that should end up being welcomed additions. Cooks should provide an excellent outside receiving threat that receives an ample amount of targets with the opposition more concerned with CeeDee Lamb, while Gilmore will be a great complement to Trevon Diggs.
There are several reasons to believe that the Cowboys can exceed their 9.5-game win total odds. Firstly, the team has increased continuity with many key players returning from last season’s squad. Secondly, the Cowboys boast an elite defense, which is capable of taking them to a championship. With Dan Quinn returning as defensive coordinator, the stop unit will likely rank in the top five of most start categories. Additionally, the Cowboys possess trench strength, both on the offensive and defensive lines. Their defensive front seven features Micah Parsons, Demarcus Lawrence, and Leighton Vander Esch, while their offensive line is anchored by veterans Zack Martin and Terence Steele. Only great things should come about from RB Tony Pollard taking on a larger role in the offense due to the departure of Ezekiel Elliott.
Case for the Under
On the other hand, there are some reasons to believe the Cowboys may fall short of their win total for the 2023-24 season. The NFC East is a tough division from top to bottom, with several strong teams looking to take it to their division rival. Then there are matchups set to go against the AFC East and NFC West with a clash against the Detroit Lions set to go down on Monday Night Football in Week 17. I also have some reservations about upper management deciding to let OC Kellen Moore go in favor of Brian Schottenheimer who never impressed me when calling the shots in prior stops with the Jets, Rams, and Seahawks. It’ll be interesting to see if the more reserved approach will help aid Prescott in limiting his turnovers while not castrating one of the more lethal attacks in the league.

Dallas Cowboys Season Win Total Analysis
I got burned by the Cowboys a season ago by hitting the under. I did it mostly due to my lack of faith in Mike McCarthy, but talent on the roster proved to win out for the second straight season. With not much changed from a season ago, there’s no reason to believe this team can’t mimic the results of the prior two seasons and once again be in the mix to win the division title if not take it a step or two further. That being said, I have no desire to lay the exorbitant juice on over 9.5 wins and will instead seek out an alternative win total to get more bang for my buck. If things go right, we just might see this team in Vegas representing the NFC in Super Bowl LVIII.
