Though the Rams just hooked our bottom line up tremendously in their win over the Vikings, I can’t think of a worse opponent for McVay’s squad to run up against than that of the Philadelphia Eagles. Los Angeles would need its offense to fire on all cylinders to have any shot of winning let alone covering what I deem to be an NFL spread that comes in a bit short. This scenario puts Philly in a buy low position in my book. Keep in mind, seven of the 27 points the Rams scored last week came from the defense. Throwing the 20 points scored last week into the mix, LA will enter this tilt having averaged just 16 offensive points over their last four games. Fittingly, PROLINE+ has set their team total for this rematch at 19.5 after going for 20 in the first meeting. Bottom line, this will be too big of an ask for a Rams team entering one of the NFL’s most hostile environments, on short rest, and traveling across time zones. The Philadelphia Eagles pissed a good number of NFL bettors off on Sunday after holding on for the 28-22 win to advance to their second NFC Championship in three years even though Saquon Barkley put the team on his back and churned out another electrifying performance. Barkley, who rushed for 205 yards, delivered huge touchdown runs to bring his season total against the Rams to four runs of 60-plus yards. His 78-yard gallop with just over 4:30 remaining to extend the lead to double-digits put a huge smile on my face after Philly struggled to get separation and get ahead of the NFL odds all game long. It however quickly turned into a frown once Jake Elliott missed his second extra point of the game—I knew it would come back to bite me…

And it did! After holding LA to three second half offensive points with 4+ minutes remaining in the match, the Eagles puckered up and allowed Matthew Stafford to lead the offense right down the field in 10 plays and just under two minutes to tally the backdoor covering touchdown. Think LA’s Joshua Karty missed the XP? Of course not, right down the middle! LA then forced a quick three-and-out which saw a grand total of 13 seconds come off the clock. To make matters even worse, the Rams moved right down the field once again. A 37-yard connection with Puka Nacua had the Rams staring at a 1st-and-10 from the Eagles 21 yard line with 1:25 left.

So after Barkley’s stadium-erupting touchdown jaunt that put Philly up 28-13 with only 4:36 remaining, the Eagles were on the verge of losing the game outright and putting my Philly NFC ticket in danger—AWESOME! Thankfully, the game ended with an offensive penalty, a sack, and a number of incomplete passes. Still, it doesn’t lessen the sting of knowing we had the same-game parlay in hand at PROLINE+ only to see two of the legs go up in flames on LA’s final scoring drive after being held to jack squat in the previous 25 minutes. Honestly, I think Philadelphia was lucky Mother Nature reared its head in this one. They were able to get away with Jalen Hurts being a shell of his former self right now, as well as the loss of stud rookie Quinyon Mitchell in-game.
