Last week Circa announced the details of its 2022 NFL Contests. But veteran gamblers know that it isn’t the only game in Sin City to choose from. The famed SuperBook at Westgate Las Vegas has been running NFL handicapping contests since 1988 and will continue its tradition this season with some added perks. The SuperBook is celebrated as an industry leader in such contests with decades of experience.
In recent years, the main SuperContest has featured in-season side contests and the full-season championship. Those in-season contests will increase this year, from nine to 11, with six three-week contests. There are payouts to the top three, with $50,000 first prizes, three six-week contests, payouts to the top four, $75,000 first prizes, and two nine-week contests, payouts to the top five, $100,000 first prizes.
Circa is setting this up to keep gamblers engaged. If players have tough years or tough runs, these in-season contests can give them new life. A player can go on a hot streak and have a chance. The book expanded the in-season contests because of feedback from contestants. And gamblers are loving the new incentives.
The SuperContest has maintained its main season-long structure since the 1980s, with entrants making five against-the-spread selections each week of the NFL season and an entry fee of $1,000. The maximum allowed is three entries, with the top 30 places paid out.
But SuperBook also has a riskier, winner-take-all contest: This contest is called SuperContest old. The entry fee for this one is $5,000, and the prize pool goes to the winner. The SuperBook contests, like Circa’s, have no rake. Last season’s SuperContest Gold winner took down $435,000.
SuperBook also has a “Reboot” contest, which covers the second half of the NFL season and has a $500 buy-in. Contestants can enter until Nov. 12.
As football bettors tick off the days until the start of the NFL season, there’s another option for them to consider. The Circa Million IV and Circa Survivor contests at the casino in downtown Las Vegas.
Circa has added a little more sugar this year, upping the prize pool to $12 million. The casino also doesn’t take a rake on the contests, which cost $1,000 per entry. Circa likes the good publicity. And gamblers love such a favorable offering. Circa says the program is a loss leader and that 100% of the prize pool goes to the players.
In the Million, $1 million of the $6 million pool will be awarded to the winner. Contestants will make five NFL picks against the spread each week to earn points. Three entries are allowed per contestant.
In Survivor, $6 million is also on the line. A $1 million bonus is available for any contestant who goes 20-0. The caveat is that they don’t choose either of the teams from the 2022 Super Bowl among their 20 selections. Last season, the Survivor contest featured 20 legs, including all 18 weeks of the NFL season, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas.
