Sports Wagering Education Coming to Colleges This Fall
August 21, 2023New Jersey Sportsbooks Report Excellent July
August 22, 2023Fanatics Sportsbook finally released its eagerly anticipated mobile sports betting app, marking another significant step in its quest to compete in the U.S. sports betting market. The launch follows almost six months of beta testing in the four states where Fanatics is already taking mobile bets, namely Maryland, Massachusetts, Ohio, and Tennessee. These four states now have access to the software, which works on both iOS and Android platforms. There is no set timetable for growth into other markets, but Fanatics Sportsbook’s recent $225 million purchase of PointsBet’s U.S. holdings has given it access to new states’ marketplaces.

In order to clearly establish itself before PENN Entertainment rebrands its sportsbook to ESPN BET later in the fall, Fanatics must now deliver on its potential to compete with online titans FanDuel and DraftKings for market share. The enhancement of its trading desk, both organically and as a result of the acquisition of PointsBet, is one of the main selling features of Fanatics Sportsbook.
During the beta testing phase, Fanatics was able to transform the original source code of the Amelco technology platform into a quick-moving trading desk for its base odds offerings. Fanatics now has the option to incorporate a second feed capable of giving competitive odds offerings across all marketplaces and extending the volume and variety of products thanks to the recent acquisition of PointsBet, which leverages Banach Technology as its platform. Additionally, Fanatics features an improved search tool that enables users to look up players and market offerings without having to wade through the game’s market options. Additionally, the algorithm of the program will be modified for each user, identifying and taking into account bettor preferences to make favorite players and markets easier to access while scrolling through screens.
There will be more focus placed on regular parlay markets as well as same-game parlay (SGP) markets in anticipation of the approaching NFL and college football seasons. Fanatics has innovatively developed this feature of its app, enabling users to search for multiple prop options in related markets during a sporting event’s schedule. For instance, a bettor who wants to put together a parlay of wide receivers who can score a touchdown at any time will be able to scan those markets rather than switching between games to find those particular individuals.
In future versions of the app leading up to the start of the NFL season, those SGP services will develop to include in-game SGP markets and cash-out options. Football testing by fans during the beta period mostly involved previously played games, although preseason play saw quick improvement that will be reflected in app upgrades before and during the regular season.
The app will offer a “Withdrawal Tracker” so users can monitor the withdrawal of their winnings. The ability to configure wager limits and deposit limitations will allow bettors to gamble responsibly, and Fanatics Sportsbook encourages players to take this action. Once established, those restrictions are effective right away for users of the app.
