May 12, 2022Best Sportsbooks for Live Betting
May 12, 2022You are ready to make your sports wager and you are excited to get into action but you can’t decide where to wager, FanDuel or DraftKings. There is no question that these two online sportsbooks attract a lot of action, not only for fantasy, but for real money wagering. There are a lot of things to consider when you are picking an online sportsbook and we’ll cover the major ones in this review and we’ll give you the plusses and minuses of both FanDuel and DraftKings so you can make an informed decision on which book you want to join.
Similarities
Let’s get the similarities out of the way first so that you don’t have to spend any time worrying about them. DraftKings and FanDuel are legal in Colorado, Indiana, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Michigan, New Jersey, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. More states will come online in the future and both sportsbooks should be available in upcoming states that approve online wagering. FanDuel and DraftKings both are available for desktop and they are available on iOS and Android so there is nothing to differentiate the two in terms of software availability.
The FanDuel sportsbook and the DraftKings sportsbook have multiple ways to deposit and withdraw money. They each have the normal debit and credit cards, PayPal, online bank transfers, etc. They each have bank transfers, PayPal and check options for withdrawals.
DraftKings Sportsbook and FanDuel Sportsbook have the same basic wagers for spread, moneyline, totals, parlays, props, etc. and each sportsbook offers early cash outs to secure a win or minimize a loss.
Differences
Let’s begin with a minor difference, as FanDuel has a $10 minimum deposit requirement, while DraftKings has a $5 minimum deposit requirement. Both sportsbooks offer $1,000 Deposit Bonuses, although Fan Duel calls theirs a Risk-Free Bet.
DraftKings offers 15 sports to wager on while FanDuel offers 17 sports, so FanDuel gets the edge in terms of more sports offered. They each offer all of the major sports, so it is a couple of minor sports that gives FanDuel the edge in terms of quantity.
Odds
Both sportsbooks offer odds on all of the sports and there are not a lot of differences, but if we were going for an edge it would be with DraftKings, as their odds are a bit quicker in terms of live updates.
Usability and Appearance
Some sportsbooks that service the U.S. market are not very functional or appealing, but that is not the case with DraftKings and FanDuel. Both have excellent sites and good menu options. They do, however, look very different.
DraftKings has a dark background with a white text and that makes the look very practical and the layout is neat and easy to read.
FanDuel goes with the white background and the blue for the odds. It is a bit fancier, but it is all about readability and some users prefer the black, while others find the blue better. Both sportsbooks have the popular sports listed on the left menu and they are very easy to find.
Mobile Betting
For many people today they want to bet using their phone, so mobile betting is of critical importance. Both online sportsbooks have a rating of 4.8 in the Apple App Store, while FanDuel gets the slight edge in the Google Play Store, as they rank with four stars, while DraftKings gets 3.5 stars.
Customer Support
Very few people think about Customer Support until they need it and then it becomes of critical importance. The FanDuel Sportsbook has Email support, Live Chat support and Phone support. They get the edge because DraftKings has just Email Support and Live Chat support.
Bonuses
FanDuel and DraftKings have solid bonuses and the one that most people want to know about is the Welcome Bonus. DraftKings has a 20% deposit bonus up to $1,000 so to get to that number you would have to deposit $5,000. FanDuel has the risk-free bet up to $1,000. If the bet wins, then you get your winnings just like a regular bet. If your bet loses then you will get site credits to cover your loss. There is no question that the FanDuel bonus will appeal to more people simply because everyone understands a risk-free bet.
Bottom Line
There is a lot to like about the FanDuel sportsbook and the DraftKings sportsbook. Each sportsbook offers all of the major sports, has good bonus options, excellent mobile options, good customer support, etc. If you are going to split hairs then there are a couple of things that gives FanDuel the edge. FanDuel offers a couple more sports to wager on and they get a slightly higher rating in the Google Play store. FanDuel also has the risk-free bet instead of the bonus and it is always nice to get a free wager even though a loss would result in site credits instead of cash. It also doesn’t hurt that FanDuel has phone support just in case of a major issue.
