April 3, 2024Minnesota and Georgia Sports Betting in the News
April 4, 2024The next to last Friday on the 2023-24 NBA schedule offers 12 games for bettors to build a winning NBA parlay at Caesars sportsbook. They say wins in November are just as important as wins in April, but looking at the results over the past few days I have to disagree. With teams fighting for playoff positioning the games take on added importance at this time of year. There are teams that are currently in a play-in spot that would love to move into the top six in their conference. The Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers are within two games of the coveted No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference. In the West, the Sacramento Kings and Phoenix Suns are both a game behind New Orleans for sixth place.
And wouldn’t you know it three of those teams are playing on Friday, April 5, looking to improve their standing. Sacramento has arguably the toughest task visiting the NBA best Boston Celtics in the first of a NBA TV doubleheader. Boston has clinched the Eastern Conference thanks in part to their sterling 32-3 record inside the Garden. They’ve also covered the NBA betting line in more than 57 percent of their home games. If you backed the Orlando Magic all season you’d be sitting pretty right now. Not only are the Magic among the top six in the East they are the most profitable team in the Association as a successful NBA spread pick in 64 percent of their contests. Orlando covered the NBA point spread in three earlier meetings with the Charlotte Hornets and go for the season sweep.

That NBA parlay heater I was on didn’t last long. A week after hitting a three-teamer I was stumped by the chaotic nature of the game with three losing picks on my four-team ticket. I don’t know about you but I found the NBA difficult to handicap this season with my weekly parlays evidence of that. I will not be deterred, however, with time running out to cash those winning tickets. My only winning NBA odds pick last week was the Golden State Warriors beating Charlotte, 115-97, as a 12.5-point road favorite. The Dubs have covered the NBA line in a league best 67.6 percent of their road games and visit the Mavericks in a Western Conference matchup.
Once threatened to be overtaken by the Rockets as the 10th seed in the West, the Warriors caught fire winning five in a row to widen the gap while also chasing down the teams ahead of them. The Dubs and Mavs played a makeup game on Tuesday with the Warriors covering the NBA line in their 104-100 victory. That tightened the schedule with both teams playing for the third time in four nights, and with Dallas not travelling I’ll back them as my NBA best bet.
I mentioned Orlando being such a good NBA odds pick that I have to consider them against a club they’ve absolutely owned this season. With just 18 wins in 75 games and now with a lame-duck coach after Steve Clifford announced he’s stepping down at season’s end, the Hornets are packing it in. All three Orlando wins were by at least 12 points, including a 101-89 road triumph last month. I’ll back the best NBA pick against the spread team in this one.
The Utah Jazz have been a hot mess the last two months losing 21 of 24 games since reaching .500 on Feb. 6. Injuries have played a role and the offense has dried up. Hell, they may not win another game after their losing streak reached 10 against Cleveland on Tuesday. I’m backing the UNDER as my NBA pick since the Jazz have a hard time scoring and the Clippers are dealing with a Kawhi Leonard knee injury. Plus, LA is coming off a game against Denver the previous night leaving them too fatigued to rack up a lot of points.
