New York Sports Betting Sets New Record
January 11, 2024More North Carolina Sports Betting Partnerships Announced
January 11, 2024With a bunch of games nearly every day of the week the NBA is a parlay bettors dream. But it can easily turn into a nightmare like it did for me last week. The league is difficult to handicap and thus equally frustrating to wager on. The teams with the best won/loss record aren’t always a good bet. The Boston Celtics have the best record with 29 wins in 37 games but were just 18-17-2 against the NBA betting line. Also, a team like the Utah Jazz are currently below .500 and outside the playoff picture in the Western Conference yet they earn payouts against the NBA point spread in 58 percent of their games leaving them as one of the more profitable teams. It’s up to folks placing a wager to do their homework and I will continue looking for a way to crack the code with NBA parlays at BetRivers sportsbook,
After winning just one of my three-team NBA parlay picks last week, the schedule for Friday, January 12 has plenty to offer. The Philadelphia 76ers have struggled without Joel Embiid in the lineup and it looks like the NBA’s leading scorer could miss Friday’s game against the Sacramento Kings with knee soreness. The Memphis Grizzlies also suffered a big loss when Ja Morant was shelved for the season with a shoulder injury that required surgery. The Griz sputtered out of the gate but showed signs of turning a corner when Morant returned from a league-mandated suspension. They host the Clippers in a Western Conference showdown. After falling to Boston in a matchup of the NBA’s two best team, the Minnesota Timberwolves return home to face Portland as a big NBA betting pick favorite.

You might think Sacramento has the edge going into its ESPN televised matchup with the Sixers. After all, reigning MVP Joel Embiid is expected to miss the game taking nearly 35 points and 12 rebounds per game out of the lineup. The Sixers lost at home to Utah and at Atlanta without Embiid giving them three straight setbacks. They also split four games when Embiid was shelved in late December. The Kings have struggled too, most notably on offense, and endured two humbling home losses to Charlotte and by 33 points to New Orleans. Maybe all they needed was to get out of town since they rebounded with big road wins over Detroit and Charlotte covering the NBA point spread both times. And without Embiid Domantas Sabonis, who’s averaging 20.2 points and 12.7 rebounds, could have a major impact in the Kings getting a payout.
You might want to chalk this season up as being lost for the Grizzlies. Injuries have ravaged the roster and just when it looked like they were starting to head in the right direction their star player gets yanked from the lineup. The Griz won just six games with Morant serving his suspension and appeared to have righted the ship upon his return. However, a shoulder injury ended Morant’s season with him joining Steven Adams on the sideline. Memphis won two games after Morant departed but they will have a hard time keeping up with the red-hot Clippers, who are my NBA pick in this tilt.
My winning NBA parlay will come when the Pelicans and Nuggets cash the OVER on the NBA betting line in their matchup. The Nuggets are one of the best home teams in the NBA and boast two-time MVP Nikola Jokic, who averages 25.5 points 11.8 rebounds and 9.2 assists. The Nuggets rank among the top 10 in field and 3-point percentage while averaging 116 points, a number that improves at home. The Pels meanwhile opened their five-game road trip with blowout wins over Sacramento and Golden State averaging 137 points while shooting 59 percent from the field and 51 percent from behind the arc. The teams combined for 250 points in an earlier meeting in Denver easily cashing the OVER as a NBA odds pick.
