CFB Futures – 2024 Florida State Seminoles Win Total Odds
July 9, 2024MLB Same Game Parlay Picks, Odds & Predictions – Thursday, July 11
July 9, 2024Many of the world’s top players are in Scotland this week for the Genesis Scottish Open as they prepare for next week’s Open Championship. World No. 2 Rory McIlroy is the defending champion and he is listed as the favorite at odds of +700 at BetMGM and he is followed by World No. 3 Xander Schauffele at odds of +800. Also listed at odds of less than 20-1 are Collin Morikawa, Ludvig Aberg and Tommy Fleetwood. Six of the world’s top 10 players and 33 of the top 50 are scheduled to tee it up in Scotland, but one player who is not in the field this week is World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler who is taking a three-week break before next week’s Open Championship. Let’s look at Genesis Scottish Open odds and picks.
Reduced juice betting is one of the best ways for any sports bettor to save money and far too many people don’t take advantage of it. If you are not playing at a sportsbook that offers reduced juice betting then you are simply giving away money. Check out the latest Genesis Scottish Open odds at BetMGM.
Venue: The Renaissance Club will be hosting this event for the sixth year in a row. It is a par 70 that measures 7,237 yards. It has a links-feel to it so many of the players use this tournament as a tune-up for next week’s Open Championship.
Last Year: Rory McIlroy was able to hold off Robert MacIntyre to win last year’s event. McIlroy finished at 15-under par, while MacIntyre was a shot back at 14-under. It was another four shots back to Scottie Scheffler, Ben An and David Lingmerth who tied for third place.

Favorite
Rory McIlroy +700
It was another favorite not named Scottie Scheffler losing last week, as Sungjae Im was never really in contention. I say on a weekly basis that golf betting favorites are a losing proposition overall except for Scheffler. I know McIlroy is the defending champion and there is no question he could win this week, but I am not taking him as the favorite.
Golf Picks
Tom Kim +2500
It could be time to get on the Tom Kim bandwagon. I admit that I had become frustrated with Kim earlier this year, as I expected him to have a breakthrough season. It hasn’t happened, but Kim has shown some good signs lately. He also played well on this course two years ago finishing 3rd and he finished 6th last season. He is coming off a 4th at the Canadian Open and a 2nd at the Travelers Championship where he lost in a playoff to Scheffler. I think Kim can win this week and we get decent golf odds.
Min Woo Lee +2800
It was Min Woo Lee who won this event in 2021. When he won this event, he did so by shooting 18-under par and that could be the winning score this week, as the winds shouldn’t be a huge factor. Lee has won three titles on the DP World Tour and all three of those wins saw him shooting between 18-under to 20-under par. Lee has proven he can play well on links courses, as his first win was at the Vic Open in 2020. Lee looked good at the Rocket Mortgage Classic where he finished second overall. I think he can contend this week.
Thomas Detry +8000
Did you know that Detry is still looking for his first individual title on a major golf tour? Detry got a team win with Thomas Pieters in 2018 and Detry got a win on the Challenge Tour but he still doesn’t have a win on the PGA Tour or the DP World Tour. He came really close in this event in 2021 but lost in a playoff to Min Woo Lee. He is one of just nine players in this field who have multiple top 10 finishes in this tournament at The Renaissance Club. Detry played well at Pinehurst, as he finished in a tie for 14th. I think he can be in the mix this week and we get a great price.
Matthieu Pavon +8000
Pavon won the Farmers Insurance Open in January and he has played well in other events this season including a 5th at the U.S. Open. He has played well on links courses in the past including a 6th at last year’s Alfred Dunhill Links. He was 12th in this tournament in 2021.
Haotong Li +40000
If there is a course where Li could win it is this one, as all three of his previous DP World Tour wins have come in events where the winning score was in the low 20’s. His lack of accuracy isn’t as big a deal on a course like this and he has played well on links courses in the past. Why not a good week for Li in a field that doesn’t include Scheffler?Check out the latest Genesis Scottish Open odds at BetMGM.
