Breeders’ Cup Race Schedule for Friday, November 1, 2024
All five Juvenile races will take place on the same day in what is known as Future Stars Friday. Some of horse racing’s biggest names made it to the winners circle at the Breeders’ Cup as two-year-olds. Nyquist and Street Sense captured the Juvenile and later hit it big at the Kentucky Derby. The day concludes with the 1 1/16 mile Juvenile with the winner becoming a likely favorite for the 2025 Kentucky Derby.
Juvenile Turf Sprint
At the minimum five furlongs, this race really is a sprint. Betting favorite Escoro Sieg has won both starts, but a deep field could lead to interesting horse racing results.
Juvenile Fillies
Winning her maiden race by nine lengths at the G1 Frizette was enough to make Scottish Lassie the favorite. This race for two-year-old females is run at 1 1/16 miles with the winner typically being named the champion of all two-year-old fillies.
Juvenile Fillies Turf
Betting favorite Lake Victoria is 4 for 4 with a pair of victories less than two weeks apart last month. She will be extended past seven furlongs for the first time.
Breeders’ Cup Juvenile
One of the most important races of the thoroughbred season, the Juvenile is the richest two-year-old race in North America and oftentimes the winner is made the Kentucky Derby favorite. One of the two favorites will lose for the first time with East Avenue 2 for 2 and Chancer McPatrick 3 for 3. The winner will be a star in horse racing circles.
Juvenile Turf
Added to the lineup a few years ago this is an important one-mile G1 race for 2-year-olds, who start prepping for longer turf races next year. English bred New Century won the G1 Summer Stakes at a mile last month and emerged as the betting favorite.

Breeders’ Cup Race Schedule for Saturday, November 2, 2024
While the Breeders’ Cup brings together hundreds of the finest thoroughbreds from around the world, the best of the best will compete in the headline event: the Breeders’ Cup Classic.
Filly and Mare Sprint
There are no problems mixing males and females in this race. Ways and Means, a 3-year-old filly with three straight wins, is the betting favorite. Her last two victories were at the G1 Test and against older competition at the G2 Gallant Bloom. Society and Vahva are close behind on the odds list.
Turf Sprint
Horses 3-years-old and older can compete in the five-furlong spring. Cogburn is a huge favorite having won all three starts this year, including turf sprints at Churchill Downs and Kentucky Downs. Bradsell offers the most resistance going 3-1 all at five furlongs.
Breeders’ Cup Distaff
This is the premier event of the racing season for female thoroughbreds, which will traverse the main track for 1 1/8 miles. With five wins in six races, including four G1 triumphs, Thorpedo Anna is the heavy negative odds favorite.
Breeders’ Cup Turf
The stakes climb in this race with the top three-year-old and up grass horses from around the world running 1 1/2 miles for a piece of the large prize purse. Betting favorite Rebel’s Romance has done it all in his world travels with G1 wins in several different countries. The 2022 winner of this race is 4-0-1 in five starts this year.
Breeders’ Cup Classic
Slotted into the middle of the schedule to help with bets on horse racing, the Classic is the main event with a $7 million prize purse. City of Troy is getting plenty of action as the betting favorite despite never racing on dirt. Forever Young enters with six wins in seven starts, the only setback being by head at the Kentucky Derby. When he runs Fierceness can be a top horse but his inconsistent results make him less desirable.
Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf
The best female grass horses take the track in this event, run at 1 3/8 miles. War Like Goddess will try again for her first BC win with two thirds and a seventh in her previous three starts in this race.
Sprint
With horses reaching speeds of close to 40 MPH down the stretch, the Sprint is just that. The world’s fastest three-year-old and up male and female thoroughbreds will air it out for 3/4 mile.
Breeders’ Cup Mile
The Mile has always been run on grass, which is why European horses have thrived. With a pair of G1 wins this year English-bred Notable Speech is the betting favorite.
Dirt Mile
With the Breeders’ Cup Mile having been run on turf in the past, the introduction of the Dirt Mile was a welcome addition to the lineup. The field includes several horses making the jump from sprints and a few dropping down from longer distances to bring us a contrast in racing styles.
