January 26, 2022NFL Conference Championship Best Bets
January 26, 2022Conference play has begun in the world of college basketball meaning March is right around the corner. Over the first few months of the year, we saw the typical powers rising to the top of the rankings. Baylor, Duke, and Gonzaga each held the nation’s No. 1 ranking for some period of time. Each still remains among the country’s top 10 in the polls, but a new team has entered the conversation.
With league play setting in, a surprise squad is sitting atop the standings. The Auburn Tigers are now the No. 1 team in the land, leaping out of an incredible 19-1 start. They’ve yet to lose an SEC game and appear primed for a top seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.
Auburn is obviously on a roll, but who else is trending up as we close out the month of January? Let’s take a look at Betmaker’s newest edition of hot and cold in college basketball before placing your NCAAB wagers.

Who’s Hot?
Auburn Tigers
We mentioned the Tigers earlier, but we didn’t go in to depth of how good they’ve actually been. Auburn finds itself on a 16-game winning streak, which includes a perfect 8-0 start in SEC play. Over that time, they’ve knocked off the likes of Alabama, Florida, LSU, and Kentucky.
Not only have they been succeeding in the win column, the Tigers have been a college basketball best bet over the last few weeks. Since beginning conference play, Auburn is 7-1 against the spread. They’ve played great on each side of the ball with only one league foe eclipsing 75 points, while the Tigers have notched 80 points in six of eight matchups.
Next up is a cross-conference matchup versus Oklahoma.
Marquette Golden Eagles
Marquette has been red hot of late, ripping off six straight wins to move up the Big East standings. The Golden Eagles have taken down historical powers Villanova, Xavier, and Seton Hall over the last two weeks.
They’ve also been fantastic against the latest NCAAB betting odds, posting a perfect 6-0 record during this win streak. This not only includes a pair of wins as a slight favorite, but Marquette has won its last four matchups as either a pick ‘em or underdog. Over their last three games alone, Marquette bettors are up more than $900 ($100 unit).
They travel to Seton Hall tonight with a chance to land another upset.
Florida State Seminoles
The Seminoles got off to a slow start after entering the season as a top 25 team. Florida State was just 6-4 before entering conference play, but things have since changed. The Seminoles are 6-1 in ACC action as they currently hold the No. 1 spot in the conference race. They’ve knocked off Duke, Louisville, NC State, and Syracuse in the process.
Florida State is 4-2 against the spread over their current six-game winning streak. That includes winning outright in their last three matchups as underdogs. Seminole bettors are up around $325 over their last four games.
They’ll have another opportunity to back FSU as they take on Georgia Tech. The Seminoles enter as five-point road favorites at SugarHouse.
Who’s Cold?
LSU Tigers
LSU still holds a spot in the top 20 of the national polls, but the Tigers have been struggling of late. They find themselves on a three-game losing skid and have fallen below .500 in SEC play. After getting off to a 15-1 start on the season, losses to Alabama, Arkansas, and Tennessee have caused a tumble down the league standings.
LSU is struggling to convert baskets at the moment, averaging just 58 points a night over this recent three-game stretch. Those struggles on offense have led to the under hitting in each of the Tigers’ last three losses.
They’ll try to get back on track tonight in a matchup versus Texas A&M. LSU enters as a 9.5-point favorite.
Oklahoma Sooners
Oklahoma has been awful in league play, falling to eighth place in the Big XII standings. The Sooners are just 2-5 in conference action and are losers of their last four contests. After getting off to an 11-2 start, the team now sits at 12-7 with a 2-5 mark in the conference.
The Sooners are struggling to cover lines, too, posting a 1-3 mark against the spread. They’ve failed to top 60 points in three of their last four matchups and would be wise to avoid when placing your next college basketball bets.
Georgetown Hoyas
Georgetown wasn’t great in non-conference play but they’ve been even worse against their Big East foes. The Hoyas are now 0-6 in league action, losing five of those contests by 10 points or more.
The defense has allowed five of the last six opponents to top 80 points, resulting in the over hitting in four of those matchups. Don’t look to the Hoyas unless they get things turned around. Their next chance to get out of this rut comes on Saturday versus Butler.
