Slam these Totals in Week 17 NFL Betting
December 29, 2022Sunday Night Football Picks – Pittsburgh Steelers at Baltimore Ravens
December 29, 2022It was another broom job for my NFL Teaser Legs at PointsBet Sportsbook last week! All we needed the Baltimore Ravens to do was win the game and that’s exactly what they did after posting the 17-9 win over the Atlanta Falcons in a game it also covered the 6.5-point closing NFL odds in. The Carolina Panthers didn’t need a single point in last week’s statement win over the Detroit Lions in one of the more surprising end results of the season. The team continues to go all-out for Steve Wilks! The New Orleans Saints rounded out the winning week by outlasting the Cleveland Browns 17-10 in a game marred by the elements.
Here’s to pulling out another sweep in Week 17 with three more teaser legs!
Bet Week 17 NFL Teasers at PointsBet Sportsbook
Detroit Lions +0.5 -275
I’m not one to bring the betting line down like this for a teaser, but we got away with it last week backing the Ravens so I’m going to press my luck with Detroit. And yes I know I’m better off hitting the -250 moneyline instead, but this is a teaser bet article so that’s that. Last week’s loss in Carolina sucked for Detroit, but it wasn’t crippling. Dan Campbell’s troops head into Week 17 7-8 and a game back of the seventh and final seed in the NFC. It’s got the Bears this week followed by a trip to Lambeau to compete with the Packers who could be fighting for one of the same playoff bids as them by the time the game comes around.
Chicago is the current owner of the No. 2 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. It should have no desire to win another game the rest of the way knowing full well that it would jump into the catbird seat should the Houston Texans unconscionably win one of their two remaining games. This is also the last time the Lions will get to play in front of the hometown faithful, and I can’t help but think it will go all-out to tally that fifth win so as to secure a winning home mark. As such, I fully expect Jared Goff and the likes to HAM out and put themselves in a better position to snag one of those playoff bids by sweeping the season rivalry from the Bears.
This matchup opened up with the Seahawks installed 1-point favorites to defend their turf. But since it was announced Mike White would nestle back in under center for the Jets, the betting market has rushed to the window to put their hard earned money down on New York. I have absolutely no issue with that as it affords us the ability to move the number to beat past the key number and attach my bandwagon to Geno Smith and co. who enters this tilt losers of three straight.
This is a pivotal game for both sides and NFL bettors have dismissed that fact when taking a gander at the influx of money coming in support of the road team. It’s no walk in the park playing in front of the 12th Man who has been witness to their team losing three straight to the Raiders in OT, Panthers, and most recently the 49ers. Its high-time Pete Carroll got this team motivated to come up with a big showing, and there’s no better time for that to occur than now with the franchise’s playoff hopes hanging in the balance.
Pittsburgh Steelers +8.5 -275
If the betting line in a matchup that pits the Steelers up against the Ravens is ever higher than three points, you take the points and laugh all the way to the bank! These are the final scores of the last 10 overall meetings: 39-38, 26-14, 23-16, 26-23, 28-10, 28-24, 19-14, 20-19, 16-13, and 16-14. The final margin of victory clocks in at just 5.06 points per game during that stretch and only 3.0 points per game over the last five. Regardless of how much better one of the teams is perceived to be over the other, you take the points!
That’s exactly what we’ll do in the Sunday nighter with the Ravens having already punched a ticket to the second season and the Steelers in the logjam at the bottom of the AFC standings looking for a miracle. With Lamar Jackson likely to miss and Pittsburgh’s injury report the lightest it’s been all season, I expect Mike Tomlin to have his men way up for this nationally televised grudge match. Even in a game Mitch Trubisky threw three picks in, Pittsburgh played to within two-points of the Tyler Huntley led Ravens back in Week 14. If it can do a better job in the red zone this time around (2/4), we may end up not needing any points!
