Boxing Picks – Jake Paul vs. Tommy Fury
February 22, 2023Bet Odds to Make the Field of 68 at BetRivers Sportsbook
February 23, 2023The second year of LIV Golf gets underway on Friday in Mexico. The good news for bettors this year is that they can easily watch the action, as LIV signed a TV deal with the CW Network. Instead of having to go to the LIV site or find it being streamed somewhere else, you can now watch the golf each week on CW. There will be 14 events this year starting with this week’s event in Mexico. Dustin Johnson and Joaquin Niemann are listed as co-favorites at UniBet to win the LIV Golf Mayakoba. I have done pretty well over the years with golf betting matchups, so I’ll take a stab at the LIV Golf matchups on a weekly basis. Let’s look at LIV Golf Mayakoba matchup picks.
Tournament Notes: El Camaleon Golf Club is the site for this tournament. It is part of the Mayakoba Resort in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. It is just over 7,000 yards and is a par-71. The fairways are tree-lined but the rough is just two inches long, so going wide is not a huge problem. Low scores a common on this course and hitting it long is not a prerequisite.
LIV Golf Mayakoba Matchups
Joaquin Niemann -149 vs. Dustin Johnson
Abraham Ancer -160 vs. Cameron Smith
Paul Casey -145 vs. Thomas Pieters
Mito Pereira -145 vs. Patrick Reed
Talor Gooch -130 vs. Sergio Garcia
Brooks Koepka -120 vs. Matthew Wolff
Louis Oosthuizen -170 vs. Carlos Ortiz
Anirban Lahiri -125 vs. Harold Varner III
Branden Grace -135 vs. Dean Burmester
Bryson Dechambeau -135 vs. Peter Uihlein
Jason Kokrak -160 vs. Marc Leishman
Charles Howell III -180 vs. Bernd Wiesberger
Henrik Stenson -130 vs. Richard Bland
Brendan Steele -135 vs. Sebastian Munoz
Ian Poulter -150 vs. Lee Westwood
Eugenio Lopez Chacarra -130 vs. Charl Schwartzel
Danny Lee -185 vs. Sam Horsfield
Graeme McDowell -180 vs. Martin Kaymer
James Piot -160 vs. Sihwan Kim
Pat Perez -300 vs. Phil Mickelson
Paul Casey -145 vs. Thomas Pieters
Pieters just recently signed with LIV Golf and it is rare when a newcomer gets off to a great start on a new tour. I still think Casey is the better overall player, and on this course, where distance is not a factor, I think Casey stands out even more. Casey is the only favorite I am backing this week.
Sergio Garcia +100 vs. Talor Gooch
I think this course will really suit Garcia’s game and I think he is poised for a good season in LIV Golf. I know that Gooch is a very good player, but I took Sergio in the odds article and I like him here as well.
Carlos Ortiz +140 vs. Louis Oosthuizen
I also took Ortiz in the odds article and I can’t pass him up at this price against Oosthuizen. This is really just a price play, as I know that Louis can play well on this course, but it helps that Ortiz knows this course well, as he finished second twice in the PGA event held at Mayakoba.
Marc Leishman +130 vs. Jason Kokrak
This is another price play, as I can’t believe Kokrak is favored against Leishman. We know that Leishman is a player who can win on any course in the world and he played well at the Saudi International, finishing in a tie for 6th. I’ll take Leishman at the plus price.
Sebastian Munoz +105 vs. Brendan Steele
Here is another matchup where we have a newcomer on the LIV Golf Tour in Steele making his debut. I think Munoz is the better player and I think there will be some pressure on Steele this week to perform well and I can’t remember anytime where Steele has done well under pressure. I’ll take Munoz at plus money.
Phil Mickelson +200 vs. Pat Perez
I can’t pass up the price on Mickelson in this matchup against Perez. These two played the Saudi International and I know that Perez finished higher, but there wasn’t that much of a difference. Perez is definitely nothing special and should not be laying a big price to anyone. I’ll take Mickelson here.
