The top four teams in the standings receive a bye, so 4Aces GC, Crushers GC, Torque GC and RangeGoats GC will not play until Saturday. Venue: Trump National Doral Golf Club is a par 72 that measures 7,510 yards. The Blue Monster hosted the WGC-Cadillac Championship from 2007 to 2016.

Notes: All 12 teams will be in action from Friday, October 20 through Sunday, October 22, competing for a massive $50 Million dollar prize purse. Teams that are seeded five through 12 will compete in head-to-head match-play competitions on Friday. For each head-to-head matchup, three matches will take place: two singles matches and one alternate shot (foursomes) match. Each match winner receives one point. Teams that earn two points will advance to Saturday’s play. Saturday’s play will have teams seeded one through four joining the four winning teams from Friday for head-to-head match play in the same format as Friday. The four teams earning two points will advance to Sunday’s final competition. Those four teams will compete in stroke play with all four scores counting toward the team’s score. The team with the lowest score will be the LIV Golf Invitational Series Team champion.

There are not many times that I will advocate playing a favorite, but the 4Aces GC team looks to be a good bet. When you look at the team competition you can’t just look at the top player on the team; you have to look at all four players. This team has Johnson, Patrick Reed, Pat Perez and Peter Uihlein. If Perez doesn’t completely fall apart and last year in this event he played really well, then Aces has a good chance to win.

Value Picks

Stinger GC 9-1

I’ll look at three teams that could have a chance to surprise. I don’t think any of the bottom four teams has much of a chance. Stinger GC has four good players, so they don’t have a weak spot, as they have Louis Oosthuizen, Dean Burmester, Branden Grace and Charl Schwartzel.

Fireballs GC 11-1

Another team that looks to have some depth is Fireballs, as they have Sergio Garcia, Abraham Ancer, Eugenio Chacarra and Carlos Ortiz. This team is kind of an all or nothing team, as they could flame out on Friday or get hot and make it to the final on Sunday.

Smash GC 14-1

I’ll throw in one longshot that could hit if they come together. This team has Brooks Koepka, Chase Koepka, Jason Kokrak and Matthew Wolff. You never know what you are going to get out of Chase Koepka and Wolff, but the potential for this team is definitely there.
