LIV Golf Houston Odds and Picks
June 5, 2024BetMGM Makes for a Hot June and Summer with Great Offers
June 6, 2024The PGA Tour heads to Muirfield Village Golf Club this week for the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday. It is the seventh Signature Event on the PGA Tour schedule and it will boast a strong field, with the Top 10 players in the FedExCup standings all in the field. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler leads the way and he is listed as the favorite at Caesars. If Scheffler falters, there are plenty of other contenders, including Rory McIlroy, PGA Championship winner Xander Schauffele and defending champion Viktor Hovland. I am coming off a 2-3 week with the matchups at the RBC Canadian open. Let’s look at Memorial Tournament matchup picks.

Defending Champion: Viktor Hovland
Tournament Notes: Muirfield Village is a good tune-up for next week’s U.S. Open, as it is a tough par 72. The par 3 holes are very tough with No. 16 ranking as the hardest par 3 on the PGA Tour last season.

Golf Matchup Picks
Viktor Hovland +180 vs. Xander Schauffele
This is simply a ridiculous price on Hovland who is the defending champion. I know Schaufflele is coming off his PGA Championship win, but he has never been that great at Muirfield in this career, as he has yet to finish in the Top 10. There is not much separating these two players and we get almost a 2-1 plus price on Hovland in this matchup.
Tony Finau -110 vs. Si Woo Kim
I know that Kim has played well in this event in the past, but is he really on par with Finau? This course is one that demands distance and strong tee-to-green play and Finau ranks 11th in the field in strokes gained: tee-to-green and he is 6th in approach. I still think Finau is the better player than Kim and we get him at a pick in this matchup.
Matt Fitzpatrick +110 vs. Tommy Fleetwood
This is a good spot to take Fitzpatrick at plus money. He has finished in the top 10 twice in six tries in this event. Fitzpatrick always seem to raise his game on tough courses and there is no question that Muirfield is a tough course. I expect him to tune-up well for next week’s U.S. Open and play well this week. I’ll take him at plus money in this matchup against Fleetwood.
Sam Burns +100 vs. Corey Conners
I don’t really get all of the Conners love this week. Is Conners really in the same class as Burns? I don’t see it. Burns comes in playing well with a tie for 10th last week and he tied for 13th at the Wells Fargo. He is fourth on the PGA Tour in Par 5 Birdie or Better and he has played well in this event in the past, including a tie for 16th last year. I’ll take Burns in this matchup.
Byeong Hun An -105 vs. Tom Kim
I have been surprised this season by the plan of An and in the play of Kim. An has actually been the better player this season and there is no reason he can’t have another big week. He nearly won this tournament in 2018 but lost in a playoff to Bryson DeChambeau. An is actually playing better now than he did in 2018. On the other side, I expected Kim to have notched some wins this season, but early in the year he regressed. He has played better lately, but this course suits An better than it does Kim.Check out the latest Memorial Tournament matchup odds at Caesars.
