Michigan edged out Ohio State 86-83 on Sunday as small road dogs per the closing college basketball betting odds to secure its sixth straight win and maintain a one-game lead over Michigan State atop the Big Ten standings. Vladislav Goldin led the Wolverines with 20 points and 10 rebounds, delivering a key putback basket with 52 seconds left to seal the victory. Danny Wolf also posted a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Nimari Burnett chipped in 11 points.
Ohio State battled throughout, as the game featured 11 ties and 16 lead changes. Devin Royal paced the Buckeyes with 26 points and five rebounds, while Bruce Thornton contributed 17 points. Thornton had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds but airballed a 9-footer in the lane . John Mobley Jr. added 16 points in the loss dropping OSU to 7-8 SU in conference play. Michigan’s size proved too much for Ohio State, as the Wolverines dominated the glass with a 46-31 rebounding edge and controlled the paint, outscoring the Buckeyes 46-34 inside. Goldin and Wolf combined for 21 of Michigan’s 46 second-chance points. The loss spoiled OSU’s first sellout crowd of the season at Value City Arena and cost the Buckeyes a key Quad 1 win.
Though my primary handicap was a factor in Ohio State staying competitive, their ability to force turnovers ultimately wasn’t enough. While the Buckeyes outscored the Wolverines 17-12 on points off 12 forced turnovers, the home team simply had no answer for the twin tower combo of Goldin and Wolf who scored 43 percent of the Maize and Blue’s points. With both squads shooting over 45% from the field , combining for 16 makes from beyond the arc, and attempting 44 combined free throws, the under never stood a chance. Michigan Wolverines at Ohio State Buckeyes Same Game Parlay Picks
Sunday afternoon’s same game parlay picks take us to the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, OH where the Ohio State Buckeyes will attempt to secure their sixth Quad 1 win of the CBB betting season when the Big Ten leading Michigan Wolverines come to town. Dusty May’s kids secured the catbird seat in the conference earlier this week when it ousted the Purdue Boilermakers back home in Ann Arbor to increase the current win streak to five straight. As for Jake Diebler’s Buckeyes, they moved to 15-10 both straight up (SU) and against the spread (ATS) after steamrolling the Washington Huskies on Wednesday night.
These hated rivals split their pair of meetings a season ago with each home team holding serve moving the host to 3-0 both SU and ATS in the last three dustups. The Over/Under cashed in at a 1-1-1 clip during that stretch with 143 points scored on average. Caesars Sportsbook will have the Buckeyes installed short home favorites on the college basketball betting odds for this lone regular season skirmish with the total set around 150.

Michigan Wolverines
It’s been quite the turnaround under first-year head coach Dusty May who has the Maize and Blue 19-5 SU and 11-13 ATS in his first year calling the shots in Ann Arbor. The overall record is good enough for first place in the conference standings with seven games remaining on the docket. Four of those games will occur in the comforts of the Crisler Center, so the path is there for the Michigan to see their first regular season title since 2020-21 all the way through.
The team took a step closer towards pulling off the feat earlier this week when it fended off the Boilermakers 75-73 after Braden Smith’s last second 3-pointer to win the game was off the mark. Even so, Michigan failed to cover the closing 3-point spread pushing its losing streak against the closing CBB betting lines to eight straight. This has to be the most unpopular conference leader in quite some time the way its hemorrhaged bankroll for CBB bettors! Maybe it can end the streak here with bigs Danny Wolf and Vladislav Goldin likely to excel on the offensive glass.
Ohio State Buckeyes
Following a tough 79-71 loss at Nebraska that saw the Buckeyes fail to build upon a five point halftime lead, Ohio State bounced back big at home trouncing U-Dub 93-69 to easily cover the closing 11-point spread. OSU secured its first double-digit lead halfway through the first quarter, and then got ahead of the number for good at the four minute mark. Since dropping three straight to Oregon, Wisconsin, and Indiana by an average of 1.7 points per game, the Buckeyes have come out victorious in five of their last seven matchups both SU and ATS.
The Buckeyes put on a shooting clinic against the Huskies draining 58.2% of their shots and 11 of 18 from beyond the arc to log their highest point tally since going for 103 against Indiana State at the end of December. John Mobley Jr. and Micah Parrish scored 21 points apiece to lead Ohio State in scoring, while the defense forced 14 turnovers leading to 21 points scored at the other end of the court. The Buckeyes also did a tremendous job cleaning the glass outboarding the Huskies 34-22 to coast to their tenth win in front of the hometown faithful.

I’ve got this one circled as a prime letdown spot for the Wolverines after coming back to defeat the Boilers Tuesday night. Michigan trailed that game for most of the night trailing by 10 points with less than 15 minutes remaining before clawing all the way back to tie it up with under six to go. They were forced to expend a ton of energy to win that game. A similar scenario played out that very same night when Michigan State fell at home to Indiana as decided favorites a game removed from fighting back from a 16 point halftime deficit to Oregon only to come back and win the game by double-digits after going berserk in the second half.
Michigan’s size advantage in the paint is concerning, as the Wolverines rank fifth in two-point shooting percentage, while Ohio State sits at 97th in two-point defense. However, this rivalry game is likely to be decided by turnovers, and the Michigan Wolverines struggle mightily in that area, ranking 328th in turnover percentage exacerbated by their up-tempo pace (52nd per KenPom) and lack of quality ball handlers. Ohio State, on the other hand, takes much better care of the ball (56th) while also excelling in three-point shooting (16th) and perimeter defense (10th). With Ohio State sorely in need of adding another Quad 1 win to the resume, I expect Ohio State to go all-out to defend their court in a lower-scoring game than the total suggests.
