Chicago Cubs vs. Kansas City Royals MLB Same Game Parlay:

The Cubs gave hope to its fan base heading into the All-Star break by cashing in against the MLB odds in six of eight games which included a three-game sweep of the Orioles on the road. The Cubbie Blue Kool-Aid was flowing mightily throughout the short hiatus from the field, but then a stark reality immediately set right back in when the team staved off a home sweep at the hands of the Diamondbacks over the weekend. As much as it pains me, the Cubs simply don’t have it this season. Whether it’s the coaching, players, or front office just not being able to field a competent team, I expect the fire sale to begin in earnest shortly. Quite the opposite has gone down in Kansas City where the Royals sit 5-games out in the AL Central and hold the third and final AL Wild-Card slot sitting 1-game ahead of the Red Sox.

Brady Singer gets the call in the series opener fresh off winning his sixth game of the year after tossing seven shutout innings against the White Sox. The showing moved the righty to 5-3 with a 2.43 ERA when throwing in front of a Kauffman Stadium crowd. More importantly, it moved the Royals to 8-3 versus the moneyline when toeing the home bump. Due to poor performance and injury, it’s so bad in the Cubs starting rotation that Kyle Hendricks is back on the hill after being demoted to the bullpen last month. It’s sad to see with the right-hander routinely getting blown up to the tune of a 6.69 ERA and 10.5 hits allowed per nine innings. Another rough showing is likely on the horizon per Stat Cast as much damage Kansas City does to the change and sinker and those pitch types being the two most-heavily utilized by the right-hander. This MLB betting season has been one to forget for Cubs fans, and I don’t foresee it getting any better in the opener of this interleague set.

New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox MLB Same Game Parlay:

The Bronx Bombers and BoSox have locked horns six times this baseball betting season and produced a 3-2-1 showing against the closing total with an average of 10.3 runs scored per game. I forecast more fireworks going off in the series opener with Nestor Cortes set to square off against Brayan Bello. Since tossing six innings of 1 ER ball at the Red Sox to open up the month of July, Cortes has been ripped for 15 hits (4 HR) and 11 ER in his two most recent starts with each coming against the division rival Rays. This dude has been a riddle wrapped around an enigma this year with the lefty 4-9 with a decent 3.99 ERA 4.6 K/BB. The long ball has however been an issue (1.4/9), and he’s failed to pitch through the fifth inning in three of his last four starts.

Bello has logged wins in three of his last four starts to move to 10-5 overall against the closing baseball betting lines. However, his 5.27 ERA lets it be known that he’s no stranger to getting hit. In fact, the right-hander has served up 6+ hits in seven of his last nine starts with one of them being the 8-1 loss to the Yankees in which he was lit up for 5 ER and a homer and failed to pitch through the fifth inning. Both offenses have already seen each hurler once this season and neither has done well against either offense throughout the careers. The Yankees have peppered Bello for a .311 average and .846 OPS, while the Red Sox have gotten to Cortes for a .278 average and .859 OPS. With that, look for the opener of this pivotal AL East set to have the scoreboard operators busy inputting crooked numbers early and often.
