July 6, 2023MLB Betting Picks – 2023 MLB All Star Game
July 7, 2023Last Friday’s MLB Same Game Parlays ended up 1-1 over at PointsBet Sportsbook with the Reds taking care of business at home and the Blue Jays failing to defend their house. The Yankees/Cardinals game got rained out, but St. Louis ended up tagging Severino the following day as expected. Cincinnati continues to be a joy to watch, while Toronto is turning into an afterthought in the AL East. Here’s to kicking the weekend off right with some winning parlay picks – SLAM YOUR MAN!!

Atlanta Braves vs. Tampa Bay Rays
It might sound asinine to fade a team with the best record in the American League, but that’s exactly what we’ll do in Friday night’s series opener with Atlanta. The Braves being the best team in the National League has much to do with it, but so too does the bout of regression the Rays are currently going through right now. Though a league-best 34-10 and up over $1,000 as a host heading into the series with the Phillies, Tampa’s only managed six wins in its last 14 played games. It was lucky to return home from its recent road trip with a .500 record after stealing games late from both the D’backs and Mariners. Atlanta on the other hand has been an absolute truck taking down everything that gets in its way. Charlie Morton has been an enormous benefactor as well with the club 4-1 in his last five made starts. We got involved financially in Tyler Glasnow’s last start. Though he racked up another 11 K to help cash our tickets on the over and F5 under, he had major issues coming up with crucial outs when needed most. He’s only pitched through the sixth in one of his seven starts and is allowing 8+ hits per nine. Like they’ve done so many times to date, Atlanta will find a way to take the opener.

Cincinnati Reds vs. Milwaukee Brewers
You bet I’ll be laying a series wager down on the Reds in this pivotal series with the Brew Crew for first half NL Central supremacy! I’ll be doubling down in the opener as well with rookie left-hander Andrew Abbott set to square off against veteran right-hander Corbin Burnes. In case you live under a rock, there isn’t a worse team in the game against southpaws than that of the Brew Crew who’ve gone 12-15 (-$580) and averaged a paltry 2.9 runs per game with a .656 OPS (No. 30). Abbott’s already held the Cardinals, Astros, and Orioles to 11 hits and 1 ER with a K/BB ratio of 14:8 in his first three road starts. Believe it or not, but the ‘Natti has cashed in against the MLB odds in each of his six made starts. While Burnes was great last time out in Pittsburgh, the righty just hasn’t been himself all season and will be squaring off against the Reds for the second time after giving up 1 HR and 3 ER while walking four back on June 2. The Reds had yet to awaken when they first saw his stuff. Look for Elly De La Cruz and his mates to have something up their sleeve for the second time around.

New York Mets vs. San Diego Padres
After banking on the Mets’ bats showing up in the desert the night prior, we’ll set our sights on Justin Verlander and look for him to go HAM in what will be his final start of the first half of the baseball betting season. For all intents and purposes, last year’s AL Cy Young Award winner has been a major disappointment with the right-hander 3-4 with a 3.66 ERA and New York only coming out on top in four of his 12 made starts. The veteran did however look to be his old self last time out with the slider getting the job done and his fastball and curve keeping the Giants guessing. San Diego rakes the slider per Baseball Savant, but has been terrible against the fastball and below average versus the curve. We could be looking at back-to-back quality starts to kick off July if he picks right back up where he left off in the pitcher’s haven otherwise known as Petco.
