Caesars Palace Heats Up With May Bonus Action
May 15, 2024MLB Same Game Parlay Picks, Odds & Predictions – Thursday, May 16
May 15, 2024It ended up being a mixed bag for last Friday’s MLB parlay picks. We kicked the night off with a swing and miss in the Cubs/Pirates matchup after Jared Jones failed to show and Chicago logged the one-sided 7-2 triumph in the series opener. We got that unit back and some after the Padres cashed in as hefty home dogs to Tyler Glasnow and the Dodgers who got dominated through seven strong innings thrown by Michael King who smashed his pitching outs prop at Caesars Sportsbook. Unfortunately, we closed the night out with a split after Logan Webb only allowed 2 ER through his seven innings but it proved not to be enough to lead San Francisco to the home win. Of course they went on to win the next two games, and with it, the series. Here’s to heading into the weekend in the black with another edition of parlay leg suggestions – SLAM YOUR MAN!!

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Chicago Cubs MLB Same Game Parlay:
So we backed the F5 under in the series opener between the Pirates and Cubs on the Northside of Chicago, but I’m not at all confident in the second game of this series playing to a pitcher’s duel. Not with Kyle Hendricks back on the bump! As much as I love “The Professor” for the job he did to help my beloved win the World Series back in 2016, eight years have passed since and he’s nothing more than a fourth or fifth arm in a non-competitive rotation. Due to injuries, Craig Counsell has no choice but to give him his job back. I have no faith in him bouncing back whatsoever. His stuff is exceptionally hittable evidenced by the 13.5 hits he served up per nine before going on the IL with a phantom injury. The vet wasn’t injured – he just sucked!
His final appearance before going on the shelf saw him serve up just two hits and 1 ER through five innings against this same Pittsburgh lineup. However, he also issued four free passes and allowed a home run for the sixth straight start. Hendricks has only made six starts this year! Paul Skenes’ debut that saw him go four innings and casually strikeout seven Chicago batters was tarnished by his bullpen that allowed a pair of inherited runs to score. The kids an uber talent and I fully expect him to relish his first road start in the “Friendly Confines” and topple his total outs prop with the benefit of likely having a nice lead to lean on.

Washington Nationals vs. Philadelphia Phillies MLB Same Game Parlay:
Riddle me this Batman; what team has been the most profitable against the MLB odds to this point of the year? If you said the Phillies due to how hot they’ve been for the better part of the last month, it would be a good guess but it would be wrong. Philadelphia has been the fourth most lucrative team to bet on to date ($745) behind the likes of the Yankees ($803), Guardians ($840), and you didn’t guess it, Nationals ($1063). That’s right folks, the 19-20 Washington Nationals have lined MLB bettors’ pockets and I recommend backing them in this scary spot against NL Cy Young Award frontrunner Zack Wheeler.
For one reason or another, the Nats have enjoyed some success against the Phillies staff ace evidenced by his career 10-9 record and 4.54 ERA through 24 overall starts. Last season, Washington logged at least 3 ER each of the four times they stared back at him. I personally don’t think he ultimately has what it takes to bring home the hardware, and will test that hypothesis in this one regardless of the negative regression monster getting him in his last start against the Marlins of all teams. Jake Irvin has done his best work on the road where he’s 2-0 with a 2.40 ERA and miniscule .187 batting average against. His ability to keep the ball on the ground (42%) will do him a solid in Citizens Bank where balls are known to fly. Washington will be taking back a huge number from linemakers for this one, and I’m there for it!

Milwaukee Brewers vs. Houston Astros MLB Same Game Parlay:
The Astros were near 10-1 dogs to win the AL West after getting swept in Chicago by the Cubs in late-April. Their rate of return at Caesars has since shortened all the way to +350 with Jose Altuve and co. logging wins in nine of their last 14 played games with the offense finally finding its rhythm. The Astros stand 5-1 versus the baseball betting odds in their last six series openers, and I love ‘em in this spot with Justin Verlander set to make his sixth start coming off his best showing of the year against the Tigers.
The main handicap of this matchup resides in the visiting dugout however with Milwaukee set to trot out a struggling Freddy Peralta to make his ninth overall start. The righty has regressed terribly since getting out to a great start to the season that had me recommending taking a flier on him to win the NL Cy Young Award. His ROR has fattened up since I locked him in. This isn’t sour grapes either evidenced by his 4.91 ERA and 13:7 K/BB ratio through a pair of May starts. He’s failed to pitch more than six innings in each and every start made to date, and I don’t envision that trend being snapped in this one with Houston recently ripping the cover off the ball to the tune of 5.1 runs per game over the last week.
