NFL Week 3 Line Move Plays
September 21, 2023College Football Week 4 Line Move Plays
September 21, 2023It’s always nice to hit multiple parlays in one day, and that’s exactly what we did on Wednesday night. We nailed all four of our individual side selections and did it in a big way to hit two decent-sized parlays.
In the afternoon, we backed Josiah Gray and the Washington Nationals as a short home favorite per the MLB betting odds against the Chicago White Sox. Gray was sharp in surrendering just one earned run over five innings, while Washington poured it on Chicago. That made our first parlay winner an easy winner since we matched Washington moneyline with the Nationals to finish over their team total of runs, and they plated 12 runs through the first five innings.
The second parlay had significantly longer odds, as we backed the Detroit Tigers on the road against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Detroit was an underdog of +220 or more per the baseball betting line, but the Tigers came through in a 4-2 victory. That was parlayed with Under 8.5 Runs in that same game, so let’s keep the good times rolling on Friday night.

Miami Marlins vs. Milwaukee Brewers
Undecided vs. Corbin Burnes
Unfortunately, we don’t know who will be on the bump for the Miami Marlins in this game. However, the Marlins have been one of the most profitable home teams in baseball this year with a 44-34 record in South Florida. Although they have a negative run differential, they are five games about .500, and ESPN gives them almost a 47% chance of making the playoffs.
This was supposed to be Sandy Alcantara’s start, but the 2022 NL Cy Young Award winner and team ace sprained his UCL. Alcantara has not been great this season though, so the team has had to make do with other pitchers taking charge like Jesus Luzardo. The offense has been able to create runs with Luis Arraez leading off, and he is expected to be ready to take the field again on Friday after missing a couple games with an ankle injury.
Milwaukee may as well put it in cruise control at this point. The Brewers have a seven-game lead over Chicago and Cincinnati in the NL Central race, and they are almost a shoo-in to be the No. 3 seed in the NL Playoffs. They will start to worry about setting up their rotation soon, so this is a nice time to bet against them as Corbin Burnes might not be at his best.

Cleveland Guardians vs. Baltimore Orioles
Shane Bieber vs. Dean Kremer
There’s no doubt that it’s been a disappointing season for both Shane Bieber and the Cleveland Guardians. Cleveland expected to contend in the NL Central, but the Guardians will instead finish well under .500. The offense was simply unable to produce enough runs, wasting another solid performance by a pitching staff that continues to perform year after year.
Bieber has been on the 60-day injured list and hasn’t pitched since July 9. He allowed four earned runs in back-to-back starts, and the team realized something was up with his elbow, so they put him on the IL to try and fix what was wrong with their ace.
Given his status as a wild card, this is more of a risky play, but it’s going to pay off nicely if it wins. Baltimore is currently the best team in the AL, and the Orioles could reach 100 victories on the year. However, their pitching staff is merely above average without the benefit of a true ace like Bieber.
Dean Kremer has been a solid innings eater with Baltimore. Kremer has a 12-5 record with a 4.17 WHIP and a 1.30 WHIP. However, this is by far the most use he has had in any of his four seasons. Kremer threw just 18.2 IP in 2020, 53.2 IP in 2021 and 125.1 IP in 2022, but he is at 164 IP this season. Fatigue could be a major factor, and there is the additional question of whether they will limit him before the postseason, so that could give the Guardians a big edge.
