MLB Same Game Parlay Picks, Odds & Predictions – Sunday, August 13
August 11, 2023Colorado Books Find No Nuggets of Gold in Denver NBA Title Run
August 14, 2023Last Monday’s MLB Same Game Parlays ended up 0-3 over at BetRivers Sportsbook putting us behind the proverbial 8-ball right out of the gates. The day started off terribly after the Padres pissed away a 5-0 third inning lead and went on to lose 13-7 to the Dodgers in the defeat I ultimately believe ended their respective 2023 campaign. That was followed up with a head scratching loss backing Spencer Strider and the Braves against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Bizarro day continued later on when Dylan Cease outpitched Gerrit Cole to help lead the White Sox to the win as decided home dogs per the closing MLB odds. Let’s kick off a brand new week by adding to the bankroll with some same game parlay pick winners – SLAM YOUR MAN!!

Houston Astros vs. Miami Marlins
It’s a two-start week for Framber Valdez which has his fantasy supporters giddy about the prospects of running up against the Marlins and Mariners back in the comforts of Minute Maid. With the righty getting roughed up by the Orioles last time out needing the offense to bail him out from taking loss No. 8, I fully expect the right-hander to be locked in for this one against a Miami offense that’s excelled against LHP evidenced by a .795 OPS (No. 4) that’s only equated to an average of 3.7 runs per game (No. 26); the Fish stand 14-15 in those games (-$200). Current Miami batters are hitting a paltry .152 against him with Josh Bell and Jorge Soler the only two that’ve taken him yard. Take those two out of the equation and nobody else on the roster has logged a single hit against him! Braxton Garrett regressed terribly in July but has been a skosh better in August through two starts. Still, I don’t think he has it in him to keep a white hot Astros offense that’s averaged 5.4 runs per game over the last week from hanging a crooked number.

Los Angeles Angels vs. Texas Rangers
The Halos finally put an end to their horrendous level of play following the trade deadline by taking two of three from the Giants. It’s off to Houston and Texas before returning home to host the Rays and Reds. This my friends is the crossroads of the Angels 2023 baseball betting campaign! Sitting 10.5-games out in the division race and 8.5-games out of the wild-card picture, it’s now or never for Shohei Ohtani and his mates to make a run at qualifying for the second season. Though it’s yet to all click for Patrick Sandoval with his slider and changeup never being on the same page together this season, the lefty is still the owner of a 3.86 ERA with his 4.02 FIP not far behind. Believe it or not, but he’s excelled versus the Rangers current lineup holding Marcus Semien and co. to a .133 batting average with a lone long ball served up. He’s been equally effective against both platoon splits and has been at his best on the road where he’s the owner of a 3.23 ERA and .224 BAA. I’m still of the belief Max Scherzer is just about washed and think he’s due for some major negative regression in the very near future. This is the statement game of all statement games for the Angels!

Seattle Mariners vs. Kansas City Royals
Is it possible the starting pitching matchup of the night goes down in Kansas City? It’s a plausible question to ask based on the current form of both Logan Gilbert and Brady Singer! The former will take the Kauffman bump fresh off seven dominant shutout innings thrown against the Padres with a season high 10 strikeouts, while the latter has logged quality starts in four of his last five turns all the while registering a 31:5 K/BB ratio and allowing just 11 ER through his last 33.2 innings of work. The slider has been extremely effective for both of these starting pitchers throughout the regular season, and each arm currently looks to be locked in on it at the present time. Lucky for them, neither the Mariners nor Royals are effective at hitting it when going by the run values put forth by both teams against the pitch type per Baseball Savant. That paints a picture of an underrated pitcher’s duel playing out early with both squads struggling to generate much of any offense.
