MLB Same Game Parlay Picks, Odds & Predictions – Saturday, July 22
July 21, 2023Illinois Setting Records to Heat Up the Summer
July 24, 2023Last Monday’s MLB Same Game Parlays ended up 1-1 over at BetRivers Sportsbook with the play on the Mariners cancelled due to Bryan Woo’s start being pushed back to Tuesday. The night started off with an ugly 2-leg SGP loss in the Tigers/Royals matchup with Matt Manning surprisingly taming the Royals bats. Thankfully we closed it out with a win on the Angels who walked it off in extras to get a leg up on the Yankees before ultimately going on to sweep the series. Let’s kick off a brand new week by adding to the bankroll with some parlay picks – SLAM YOUR MAN!!

San Francisco Giants vs. Detroit Tigers
The Tigers just won to take three of four from the Royals while typing up this blurb. Though they cashed that run-line ticket in for us, the offense still failed to go over the team total costing us a clean sweep of all three same game parlays. Even so, I’m all over the home team in this horrendous travel spot for the Giants with Tarik Skubal on the bump. The fireballing right-hander was once one of the more clamored for up and coming arms in fantasy circles. Then Tommy John reared his ugly head and he was forced to go under the knife. With three starts under his belt since returning to the rotation, I’m ready to go all in on him logging his first win of the baseball betting season while tallying a high K total in the process. The Giants own the fifth highest K rate in the game (24.7%), and I don’t foresee the team being the least bit interested in this matchup with it the last of an extended 11-game roady out of the break. Detroit gets the benefit of remaining home after hosting San Diego through the weekend. This is arguably one of the best situational spots of the 2023 MLB betting season with an ineffective Ross Stripling on the hill, so let’s hammer it and take full advantage!

Texas Rangers vs. Houston Astros
While the Rangers have come out of the break with their hair on fire, it’ll be the Astros that we side with when these AL West rivals collide in the opener of this crucial series in the “Juice Box” on Monday night. Nathan Eovaldi undoubtedly deserves to be in the AL Cy Young Award race discussion being that the right-hander is 11-3 with a sterling 2.69 ERA and 23.2 percent K rate; he’s currently +750 to pull of the feat at BetRivers. However, the veteran looks to be laboring right now with his velocities down across the board which makes me wonder if he’s pitching hurt and the Rangers are pushing the envelope knowing it’s already down a staff ace. Hopefully it doesn’t come back to bite them, but I’m not confident about that. Especially in this spot against Houston with electric rookie right-hander Hunter Brown on the bump looking to halt a personal four-game losing streak. Having been ripped for 12 ER in his last 12.1 IP, I’m hoping linemakers install him an inflated home dog. Even if he ends up being the short chalk – which wouldn’t surprise me as sharp MLB betting odds have been this season – I think he excels with it being the third time he will have run up against Adolis Garcia and co. (1-1).

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. San Diego Padres
The Friars finally return home to Petco following a 10-game post All-Star break road trip that would be considered successful dependent upon what goes down in Motown through the weekend. Before the break, I stated that San Diego would be a play-on team throughout the second half with the roster the healthiest it’s been since Opening Day. At the time of this writing, Bob Melvin’s troops sat 9.5-games out in the NL West and 8-games out in the wild-card chase. I still think this team has the wherewithal to punch a ticket to the second season, so a beer money flier on them to do so at a nice plus-money return deserves some attention. For that to occur, this type of game and series must be won at all costs. Thankfully, the Padres get a locked in Yu Darvish to start it off against a current Buccos roster he’s held to a collective .155 batting average and .493 OPS. His opponent will be none other than Rich Hill who’s been raked for 7+ hits and at least 3 ER in each of his last three starts. SD has averaged nearly 5.0 runs per game against southpaws, so I expect Juan Soto and co. to hang a crooked number that puts Yu in a position to log his eighth win of the year.
