We ended up splitting last Monday night’s same game parlay picks. Though Shota Imanaga tossed five innings of shutout ball with another 8 K to lower his ERA to 0.96, the offense did absolutely nothing against Reynaldo Lopez who only gave up two hits through five shutout innings. The swing and miss was however recouped later in the night when the Dodgers scored the miraculous run-line cover in extra innings to take the series opener from the Giants. Yoshinobu Yamamoto just went over his K prop, while Aaron Hicks just went under his total outs recorded prop. Chicago White Sox vs. Toronto Blue Jays MLB Same Game Parlay:

We’ll kick the day off with a nice afternoon clash north of the border where the Toronto Blue Jays will open up a three-game set against the recently frisky Chicago White Sox. This game represents the first of six games these teams will play against one another over the next 10 days. In other words, it’s an excellent opportunity for the BJs to make up some ground in the AL East standings with it bringing up the rear 9-games back of the front running Yankees. I’m not exactly sure what’s going down with Eric Fedde right now, but the right-hander looks destined for a meeting with the negative regression monster as unimpressive his stuff has been. Per Picher List, he ranks 149^th and 142^nd in swinging strike percentage and called + swinging strikes percentage yet has only allowed 7.1 hits per nine innings while averaging 3.57 K/BB. It will catch up to him sooner or later. 

Offensively, Toronto has underperformed regardless of splits, but Jose Berrios has been lockdown dominant in his home digs where he’s the owner of a 0.87 ERA, 0.73 WHIP, and .157 BAA. He’s also had Chicago’s number throughout his career in going 13-6 with a 3.11 ERA and .211 BAA. Through two 2023 starts, he tossed 14 combined innings of shutout ball allowing five hits with a dominant 15:2 K/BB ratio. Though Chicago has been a tougher team to send down via the strikeout (#14) to date, I expect Berrios to shine and put himself in line to win his fifth game of the baseball betting season.

Los Angeles Angels vs. Houston Astros MLB Same Game Parlay:

I don’t know who assembled the schedules for all 30 MLB teams this season, but I find it insane that this will be the first meeting of the year between the division rival Angels and Astros. Regardless, Houston will be installed gargantuan favorites to win this ball game with Framber Valdez set to square off against Reid Detmers. While the Astros are on a bit of a tear recently, the six wins logged over the last seven games have come against the struggling Tigers, defunct A’s, and Yankees which helped avoid getting swept in New York. I’m not sold on this team being out of the woods just yet.

Though Anaheim currently brings up the rear of the AL West standings, it’s been pesky of late with Taylor Ward, Logan O’Hoppe, and Jo Adell all ripping the cover off the ball. I’ll bank on that continuing in this spot and hope the trio, amongst others, can get to Valdez who I believe has recently gotten the job done with smoke and mirrors. He’s been completely reliant upon his sinker with the curve and change constantly failing him. Per Baseball Savant, LA sports a number of bats with positive run values against the sinker, and they thrive against the curve and change as well. It’s a gamble as dominant Framber was against Los Angeles last season in going 2-0 with a 2.53 ERA and .192 BAA through three starts, but this is an entirely new season and the first time he’ll throw at the Halos to date. LA has made money against the MLB odds as visitors ($35) in going 10-12 while averaging 4.2 runs per game. With that, we’ll target runs being scored and hope they can bounce Valdez early to get a crack at what’s been a very disappointing Astros pen.
