We ended up cashing one of three MLB Same Game Parlays at BetRivers Sportsbook and I’m still not over losing that SGP with the Nats who held a 3-0 lead over the Phillies in the seventh inning and ended up losing 12-3. Chalk up another sickening defeat in a game involving the Phillies who’ve done nothing but bleed bankroll for us all MLB betting season long! Of course Brady Singer’s hot streak ends when I finally decide to back him – in Wrigley of all places! Thankfully the Tigers and Guardians played to the low scorer I envisioned in the matchup between Eduardo Rodriguez and Tanner Bibee. Let’s see if we can bang out some more parlay winners today – SLAM YOUR MAN!!

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Boston Red Sox
I’ve had my finger on the pulse of Red Sox nation for the last week correctly predicting them showing up against the Yankees and pulling a no-show against the Astros. I’ll press my luck in this series and once again expect Alex Cora’s troops to come up short against the mighty Dodgers. Mookie Betts returning will be a story all the talking heads will be bantering about ad nauseum, but they should be paying more attention to the work Julio Urias is putting in instead with the left-hander logging wins in all four August starts by way of pitching to a 1.44 ERA and logging 27 strikeouts to just two walks. The same can’t and won’t be said of Boston lefty James Paxton with the “Big Maple” serving up 29 hits (6 HR) and 12 ER with a 17:6 K/BB ratio over his last four starts. Though both lineups have been rock solid versus LHP with Los Angeles averaging 5.2 runs per game (No. 8) and Boston 5.1 (No. 10), Urias is in lock down form right now.
MLB SAME GAME PARLAY: DODGERS MONEYLINE + PAXTON UNDER PITCHING OUTS
Houston Astros vs. Detroit Tigers
The Tigers offense is hitting at one of its best clips of the season with the team averaging 5.0 runs per game over the last week. It’s allowed for A.J. Hinch’s squad to win five of its last seven games against the closing baseball odds. Opposing his former team and with Eduardo Rodriguez on the bump, I’m backing Detroit in this matchup against a Houston squad that will send a struggling Hunter Brown to the bump to make start No. 24. The righty has seen his overall ERA fatten up to 4.50 after giving up 22 hits (5 HR) and 13 ER in his four made August starts with Houston dropping each of his last two trips to the bump. Save for that ugly showing at Boston two starts back, E-Rod has been locked in having helped lead the Tigers to wins in his other three August starts by way of allowing just 15 hits and 3 ER with a K/BB ratio of 16:5 while averaging 6.3 innings per start. Detroit will be installed home dogs and will be rabid!

San Diego Padres vs. Milwaukee Brewers
The Friars playoff hopes are on life support right now with the team 17.5-games out in the NL West and 6.0-games out in the wild-card chase. If this underachieving club is to live up to the payroll upper management inked it to in the offseason, it must start winning games repeatedly. While I don’t envision that occurring once it’s all said and done, I’ll still give Yu Darvish a look here in Milwaukee where he’s the owner of a career 0.82 ERA and .100 batting average against through two career starts. While hardly a lofty track record to bank on, he’s also held current Brewers bats to a .165 batting average and racked up an impressive 29:7 K/BB ratio. He took the loss at home against Milwaukee way back on April 16 even after tossing seven innings of 1 ER ball with 12 K! Freddy Peralta is in his finest form of the 2023 MLB betting season having allowed just 5 ER with 50 K and seven walks over his last five starts. He’s silenced the bats of Manny Machado (1/8) and Juan Soto (1/9) throughout his career, which makes the probability of a fifth start of quality in his last six tries very high.
