MLB Same Game Parlay Picks, Odds & Predictions – Friday, August 4
August 3, 2023Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz Picks, Predictions, and Odds
August 4, 2023It’s now back-to-back-to-back disgusting showings on Saturday for my MLB Same Game Parlays at BetRivers Sportsbook. We took the collar for the third straight week after the Twins got roasted by the Royals on Jordan Lyles Day, the Cubs did their part against Waino but the Cardinals could only manage a lone run against Taillon, and the Reds dropped a low scorer to the Dodgers; their lone loss of the series. Let’s see if we can bang out some parlay winners this time around – SLAM YOUR MAN!!

Miami Marlins vs. Texas Rangers
I was tempted to write the Fish up for Friday night with Jazz Chisholm and co. set to square off against Jor-Mont in his Rangers debut, but we’ll press pause there and back them Saturday instead running up against a different southpaw in Martin Perez. This position likely won’t be popular with the masses, but that’s exactly how I like it! Edward Cabrera has struggled mightily since coming off the IL. Through three starts, the righty has been had for eight hits (1 HR) and 6 ER and logged a 9:11 K/BB ratio through a grand total of just 10.0 innings. He’s also been battling a blister on his throwing hand. Even so, his stuff is light years better than what Perez brings to the table, and I’ve been witness to his dominance when not serving up free passes like they were free samples at your local COSTCO. I don’t think we’ve heard the last of Miami with it just on the outside looking into the playoff picture and seemingly staving off the negative regression that arrived in the middle of the July. Texas just took its frustrations out on the White Sox after getting smoked in San Diego, but the Marlins will prove to be a much feistier opponent.

Kansas City Royals vs. Philadelphia Phillies
I’m still not over Alec Marsh coming out from seemingly nowhere to register 11 strikeouts against the Rays back on July 15 and nearly cost us a big bet on over Tampa’s team total. Since then, the righty has tallied a grand total of seven strikeouts through two starts and a one inning showing out of the pen earlier this week. He’ll toe the bump in Philly the owner of a bloated 6.75 ERA and 0-5 record through five starts. Opposing him will be this Christopher Sanchez kid who’s done nothing but impress since getting the call at the end of June. Though yet to secure a win to call his own, the lefty has thrown to a 2.66 ERA through nine starts and allowed just 6.7 hits and issued 1.5 free passes per nine innings. Averaging 5.13 strikeouts per walk, I think he excels in a big way in this spot running up against a KC offense that owns a sub .700 OPS against LHP (No. 22) while averaging 4.3 runs per game (No. 21). The Royals have also gone down on strikes at a 27.1 percent clip when on the road; only the Twins have been worse. Perez will log his first win of the season and hang a high K tally in the process.
MLB SAME GAME PARLAY: PHILLIES MONEYLINE + SANCHEZ OVER K PROP
Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Diego Padres
Emmett Sheehan came from out of nowhere and hurled five innings of shutout ball with 5 K at the Reds to kill our position on the over last weekend. Even so, he failed to impress with his swinging and called strike rates in the low-20s. The kid isn’t fooling anyone with his secondaries, and that should lead to some issues in this spot at Petco running up against a desperate San Diego squad looking to do everything it can to get back into the playoff chase. If his slider and changeup continue to struggle, he won’t be long for this one as readily able Juan Soto and co. are at mashing 4-seamers per Baseball Savant. As for his opponent, Blake Snell has been on a heater dating back to the end of May. The lefty surrendered no more than an earned run through his six made starts in the month of July, and is now just a +325 dog to win the NL Cy Young Award behind only Strider and Gallen. He opposed LA twice way back in early May before things started to click and only gave up five hits (1 HR) and 4 ER while attaining a 10:7 K/BB ratio through 12.0 innings. Things are much different for him now, but the Dodgers have continued to struggle against LHP going 13-17 (-$1400) even though they’ve averaged 4.9 runs per game (No. 11). If he curbs the walks, this could be the spot Snell leaps Gallen in the Cy Young race!
