MLB Same Game Parlay Picks, Odds & Predictions – Sunday, July 16
July 14, 2023MLB Same Game Parlay Picks, Odds & Predictions – Monday, July 17
July 14, 2023We ended up splitting Last Saturday’s MLB Same Game Parlays over at BetRivers Sportsbook with the over in the Mariners/Astros game scratched due to Cristian Javier’s start being pushed back. The Blue Jays were inexplicably no-hit by the Tigers pitching staff and Kevin Gausman came up a strikeout short of going over his number. We got it back and some due to Spencer Strider and the Atlanta Braves taking care of business against the Rays. Let’s see if we can bang out some more parlay winners this Saturday – SLAM YOUR MAN!!

San Diego Padres vs. Philadelphia Phillies
If you’ve been following my stuff for the better part of the last month, you know we’ve had a hand in every one of Blake Snell’s starts. We won’t get away from that “MO” in this one with the left-hander set to square off against a Phillies offense that’s been better against RHP than LHP. Since leading his team to only a pair of wins through his first 11 starts, Snell has propelled his squad to a 5-2 record in his last seven all the while conceding just 21 hits and 3 ER with an insane 71:15 K/BB ratio. He was stellar last time out in tossing six shutout innings with 11 K at the Mets! On the flipside, Taijuan Walker has been just as good leading Philadelphia to wins in each of his last six starts all the while giving up just 10 ER through his last 41 innings. Normally I wouldn’t buy into this from Walker, but the showings have been consistently good and San Diego’s offense – though loaded with million dollar bats – has been largely disappointing. I think we get a pitcher’s duel early in this one with both pitchers in line for quality starts.

Miami Marlins vs. Baltimore Orioles
As big a fan I am of both these squads, the Orioles are a fade for me whenever Kyle Gibson toes the bump. The righty might be the owner of a 9-6 record, but his stuff is way too unpredictable and not knowing what to expect makes it extremely tough to back. Case in point last time out against the Twins whom he held to just three hits and 2 ER while logging a season-high 11 K. That win snapped a string of four straight games lost by Baltimore with No. 48 leading the charge. Though Braxton Garrett hasn’t been his dominant self his last two turns in allowing 13 hits (2 HR) and 6 ER while only lasting 10.2 total innings, the righty has been his absolute best on the road where the ERA clocks in at 2.14 and the opposition batting just .225 against him. Miami has come out on the right side of the scoreboard in each of his last eight starts, and in the process scored an average of 5.5 runs per game. If the Fish are to take this series, this is the game they must take. Look for Garrett to shake out of his doldrums and for Jorge Soler and co. to hang a crooked number.

Houston Astros vs. Los Angeles Angels
The Halos only have a few weeks to make a run in hopes of getting back in both the AL West and wild card races before upper management will have to start thinking about making a tough decision pertaining to what the franchise wants to do with Shohei Ohtani. I personally am not buying Framber Valdez being the +215 running favorite to win the AL Cy Young Award over at BetRivers. While the righty looks pristine on paper with a 2.51 ERA and 1.054 WHIP, the record clocks in at 7-6 which means the Astros’ staff ace has been beatable to no discredit of his own. Reid Detmers had been rolling up until his final start before the All-Star break against the Dodgers. Even so, the young K artist has been at his best in the Big A where he’s only allowed 43 hits and fanned 70 through his 51.0 total innings of work. He took a loss in his lone start against the Astros earlier this season, but only four of the 15 lifetime hits he’s allowed to Houston have gone for extra bases with none leaving the yard. This is a gargantuan homestand for the Angels, and I expect them to kick it off with a series win against one of the teams they’re chasing.
