We also needed one more hit allowed by Taj Bradley to cash the 3-leg SGP. Houck gave us six strong innings of 2 ER ball and Boston outhit the Yankees 7-6, but it wasn’t enough to come out with the win. New York failed to exceed its team total in the 3-1 triumph. Detroit Tigers vs. Minnesota Twins

I have no clue who will take the mound for the Tigers at the time of this writing, but that doesn’t concern me as putrid Detroit has been since the calendar turned to June. A.J. Hinch’s squad only just snapped a nine-game losing streak due to a miraculous late-inning comeback against the Braves earlier this week. While the offense has exhibited some recent spunk, I still think this is a spot Louie Varland can thrive in with the Twins rookie finally getting a breather after being forced to run up against the Blue Jays, Rays, Astros, Blue Jays, and Angels in his last five starts. His 4-seam/cutter combo should give Javier Baez and co. major headaches. Save for Kerry Carpenter, the Tigers have really struggled against those pitch types as a whole. Only the Royals average fewer runs per game against RHP than Detroit (3.5). Provided walks don’t get in the way with the righty walking 2.4 per nine, we could be looking at a quality start and win for the second–year hurler.

Miami Marlins vs. Washington Nationals

Happy Jake Irvin Fade Day! We’ve waited 11 days for this glorious occasion to resurface, so let’s make the most of it! The ERA still clocks in at 5.81 and the FIP not far behind at 5.79. This is what he is. A pitcher that’s served up 32 hits through 31.0 innings while walking a whopping 5.8 per nine innings! Making this spot all the more juicy is the fact that the right-hander has struggled immensely at home (7.32 ERA) and only lasted four innings in his lone day start after giving up 2 ER and a bomb while accruing a 4:4 K/BB ratio. Miami has a bunch of bats that smoke his 4-seamer, curve, sinker repertoire per Baseball Savant, so even the Marlins middle of the road offense versus RHP (No. 15) should be able to get theirs. Braxton Garrett has allowed two or fewer earned runs in five of his last six starts, so we’ll take a flier on him logging his first quality start since May 20 to increase the overall ROI of this same game MLB parlay.

SAME GAME MLB PARLAY: MARLINS RUN-LINE + MARLINS OVER TEAM TOTAL + BRAXTON OVER PITCHING OUTS

Cleveland Guardians vs. Arizona Diamondbacks

We’ll close things out in the desert in the second game of this interleague set between the Guardians and D’backs. We faded Tommy Henry earlier in the week against Philadelphia. Though the Phillies easily exceeded their team total and got to Henry for 5 ER, they failed to win the game ultimately costing us a nice 3-leg SGP cash at BetRivers. I want my money back! Though Cleveland ranks No. 28 in OPS against LHP (.669) and only averages 4.3 runs per game (No. 21), it’s been ripping the cover off the ball over the last week in averaging a healthy 5.9 runs per game (No. 4). They should hang another crooked number against Henry who’s serving up 8.8 hits and walking 3.6 per nine while only registering 1.65 K/BB. Though Shane Bieber was fantastic last time out against Houston, Arizona ranks No. 4 versus RHP with a .773 OPS while averaging 5.3 runs per game. On top of that, Baseball Savant shows a number of positive run values versus the 4-seamer and slider within the batting order. I don’t foresee Bieber or Henry being long for this one!
