College Football Week 2 Line Move Plays
September 7, 2023Week 1 NFL Teaser Best Bets
September 8, 2023We took the collar with our MLB Same Game Parlays at BetRivers Sportsbook last Saturday with two of the three losses serving up a heaping load of pain. The lone loser that had no shot was the SGP on Eduardo Rodriguez and the Tigers who got destroyed 9-2 by the Astros. The Dodgers held a 4-2 lead in the sixth over the Red Sox, but then Julio Urias imploded in the bottom half of the inning by giving up 4 ER and 3 HR. I guess it was a sign of things to come for the left-hander! If that wasn’t nauseating enough, the F5 under between San Diego and Milwaukee got blown up in the bottom of the inning when the Brewers logged all five of their runs against Yu Darvish. Let’s see if the baseball gods allow us to cash some parlay winners today – SLAM YOUR MAN!!

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Chicago Cubs
We’ve been involved in the first two games of this series expecting a high scorer in the opener and backing Gallen Friday afternoon. This will make it three straight with Merrill Kelly set to square off against Justin Steele in what I expect to be a matchup dominated by a pair of excelled starting pitchers. Since coming off the IL at the end of July, Kelly has done nothing but bring his “A” game to the bump in allowing 50 hits and 19 ER with a K/BB ratio of 61:16 through 53.1 innings of work. He’s only logged one blowup start which occurred in Tinseltown where the Dodgers got to him for 12 hits and 7 ER through 5 IP. Cody Bellinger is the only bat that’s had success against him on Chicago’s current roster. As for Steele, he’s jettisoned up the NL Cy Young Award odds board at BetRivers (+250) by way of leading Chicago to wins in 14 of his last 15 starts while allowing a grand total of 23 ER over his last 83.1 innings. Zona is batting a collective .138 against him, and he’s been at his absolute best at home (2.25 ERA) under the sun (2.98 ERA). Though college pigskin dominates the day, this is a starting pitcher pairing MLB bettors mustn’t miss!

Chicago White Sox vs. Detroit Tigers
Though the Tigers cost us last week, I’m firing right back on A.J. Hinch’s squad with Tarik Skubal set to square off against the division rival corpse otherwise known as the Chicago White Sox. If you’ve been following my baseball betting and fantasy prognostications the last few years, you’ll know Skubal is on my ride-or-die list and I’m thrilled the southpaw is back to kicking butt and taking names now 1+ years removed from going under the TJ knife. Chicago stands 16-22 versus LHP on the year (-$610) and averages a paltry 4.6 runs per game (No. 18) against that platoon split. Good luck with Skubal’s stuff with the team owners of a near 25 percent K rate on the road! While I get that Chicago gets the benefit of seeing him again so quickly after the lefty logged seven innings of 2 ER ball with a 7:2 K/BB ratio back on September 3, I believe in his stuff that much to bypass any worry. Much of that has to do with the enigma that’s proven to be Michael Kopech who walked five and gave up 2 ER in the matchup with Skubal over the weekend. Now back in his home digs where he’s allowed just 6 ER with a 42:6 K/BB ratio over 30+ innings, look for Skubal to lead the Tigers to another win by a more comfortable margin.

Baltimore Orioles vs. Boston Red Sox
While the Red Sox have shown a pulse of late, I simply can’t get on board in the second game of this series against the Orioles with Chris Sale and his low 90s fastball set to run up against Baltimore’s unforgiving offense that rakes LHP to the tune of 5.5 runs per game (No. 5) with a .763 OPS (No. 9). On top of that, the lefty has had major issues with Ryan Mountcastle and Co. this season with the O’s peppering him for 16 hits (3 HR) and 12 ER through a pair of starts that amounted to a grand total of eight innings pitched. On the flipside, Kyle Bradish remains one of the more underappreciated starting hurlers of the 2023 MLB betting season with the righty the owner of a 10-6 record and 3.03 ERA that’s backed by a 3.44 FIP and 8.8 K/9. The righty has been at his best in day games (2.03 ERA), and will take the bump for start No. 26 looking to settle the score after the BoSox bludgeoned him way back in April for 7 ER through 2.1 innings in what still stands as his worst showing of the year. Look for him to get his revenge and help lead the Orioles to the impressive one-sided triumph!
