MLB Same Game Parlay Picks, Odds & Predictions – Saturday, August 19
August 17, 2023MLB Same Game Parlay Picks, Odds & Predictions – Monday, August 21
August 18, 2023We took the collar for the third straight week with last Sunday’s MLB Same Game Parlays at PointsBet Sportsbook. It’s a stone cold lock to fade me right now as we just haven’t been able to gain any traction since the ASB. Jameson Taillon got ripped preventing the Cubs from busting the brooms out in Toronto. Eury Perez proved to be no match for the Yankees impotent bats killing our F5 under position though Miami plated five in the bottom of the ninth to come out the victor against the MLB odds. The Brew Crew cruised to the run-line win against the White Sox, but Freddy Peralta failed to go over his K prop and Dylan Cease shockingly only walked a pair. Let’s see if we can stop the bleeding with today’s parlay picks – SLAM YOUR MAN!!

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Minnesota Twins
The potential for a bullpen game will be there in the finale between the Buccos and Twinkies with Osvaldo Bido set to square off against Dallas Keuchel. The former has primarily been in a relief role for Pittsburgh since being recalled from Triple-A, but will get the start for this one making it his ninth of the season. The right-hander is serving up 9.4 hits and 3.3 walks per nine innings. While his 4.34 FIP is .70 runs lower than his 5.05 ERA, he’s not an arm I trust to get the job done against a Minnesota offense ranked tenth in OPS (.751) that averages 4.8 runs per game (No. 8) against that side of the platoon. The latter has made two starts for Minnesota since landing the gig and gone on to get ripped for 14 hits and 7 ER all the while tallying four walks and zero strikeouts through 6.2 combined innings of work. Both offenses have averaged 4.3 runs per game over the last week and are backed by below average pens. Hopefully the better arms are extinguished in the first two games which turns Target Field into a launching pad for the finale.

Kansas City Royals vs. Chicago Cubs
Kyle Hendricks has failed to lead Chicago to a win each of the last four times he took to the starting bump. Oddsmakers at PointsBet will have him lined a substantial favorite to get the job done in Sunday’s finale when he squares off against Jordan Lyles. Even so, another tough road lies ahead in this spot against a Kansas City offense that’s thrived against the best pitches of his arsenal. Per Baseball Savant, the Royals murder the changeup and sinker with Salvador Perez and Bobby Witt Jr. the leaders in the clubhouse. As such, another rocky outing looks to be in store for “The Professor.” Same goes for Lyles who will have all kinds of issues tallying outs against a Cubs lineup that rakes the 4-seamer and slider. It has had issues against the curve, but who’s to say Lyles will be locked in on Sunday? I’d be shocked if Christopher Morel and his mates don’t send him to the showers early!

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Cincinnati Reds
After running up against Jose Berrios and Chris Bassitt in the first two games of this series, the Reds will get the pleasure of running up against Hyun-Jin Ryu who is still attempting to find himself since returning from the IL on August 1. The lefty has helped lead Toronto to two wins through three tries all the while giving up just 11 hits (1 HR) and 4 ER with an 8:4 K/BB ratio through 14.0 combined innings of work. Cincinnati has been a profitable team to back on the baseball odds when running up against left-handed pitchers with it 20-17 overall and up $520 for its wagering supporters. It has however been a poor investment within the GAB where it’s the owner of a 30-32 overall record (-$45). Even so, I’m riding them in this spot with Hunter Greene set to return to the starting bump coming off an extended stay on the IL. He’s logged four starts in what’s been deemed a successful rehab assignment and most recently threw 83 pitches in his final turn. I expect Cincy to let him fly right out of the chute in hopes of his arm ultimately helping the team punch a ticket to the playoffs. Toronto’s been a tough team to send down via the K, but I expect the adrenaline paired with his return to push him over the number.
