August 15, 2023BMW Championship Odds and Picks
August 15, 2023We only managed to cash one of three MLB Same Game Parlay Picks over at BetRivers Sportsbook last Thursday after some surprising turn of events transpired on the playing field. We cashed our first SGP of the day with the Orioles and under of the Astros team total, but it went all downhill from there. Though the Braves plated four through three against Bailey Falter to immediately cash the over of his ER prop, Atlanta only managed one more tally the rest of the way while Bryce Elder got lit up in the fifth allowing Pittsburgh to score the big dog win against the MLB odds. We had a shot to cash the Blue Jays/Guardians SGP across the board, but Toronto only managed to score twice with the bases loaded and no outs in the seventh inning. Let’s see if we can’t bang out some same game parlay winners on another tiny Thursday slate – SLAM YOUR MAN!!

Seattle Mariners vs. Kansas City Royals
Sometimes you just have to pay an inflated price to back a winner, and that’s exactly what we’ll do in this spot with George Kirby set to run up against an assortment of Kansas City bullpen arms in order to log his eleventh win of the MLB betting season. The righty enters start No. 24 smoking hot having allowed just 2 ER and 10 hits with a K/BB ratio of 19:2 over his last three starts spanning 21 innings. As it stands right now, Seattle sits 6.5-games back in the AL West pennant race and 4-games out in the wild-card chase. The path to the postseason is there for Scott Servais’s troops be it by winning the division or cashing in as a wild-card entrant. Just take a look at the upcoming schedule and you’ll understand the basis of that comment. They got four at Kansas City followed by three in Houston, but then it’s three at the White Sox before returning home for a six-game homestand against the Royals and A’s to close out August. Win a high majority of those games against sub .500 opponents, and Julio Rodriguez and co. will be right back in the mix when it matters most. Look for Kirby to get them out on the right foot!

Detroit Tigers vs. Cleveland Guardians
I might be on a hill all to my lonesome with this statement, but I 100 percent believe Tarik Skubal possesses one of the most electric arms in the Bigs. Though the righty hasn’t gone as deep into games as MLB bettors would like through his first seven starts, improvement has been noticeable every time he’s taken the bump. As it is, the Tigers’ staff ace clocks in 2-2 with a 4.18 ERA and insane 2.09 FIP all the while racking up a stellar 36:6 K/BB ratio. Cleveland stands 19-23 (-$1,200) and averages just 4.0 runs per game (No. 24) against left-handed pitching. We’ve been waiting for Skubal to rattle off a dominating showing and I think this spot is ripe for it to occur. I’d be shocked if he didn’t finally pitch through the sixth, and wouldn’t bat an eye if he makes his deepest start of the year! The slider is the only thing Xzavion Curry has going for him, and Detroit has a number of bats that possess positive run values against the pitch per Baseball Savant. This game has utter domination written all over it for a Tigers outfit that’s been salty over the last week in going 4-3 ($260) while averaging a healthy 4.6 runs per game.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. San Diego Padres
We’re going right back to the well with Zac Gallen and the D’backs in this quick turnaround rematch against Rich Hill and the Padres. Arizona took care of us last Saturday night when it scored the 3-0 win on the back of Gallen’s six shutout innings to go along with 8 K. The righty looks to once again be locked in having allowed 15 hits and 5 ER with a 22:4 K/BB ratio since the calendar turned to August. He’s been getting it done with high heat and secondaries that paint the bottom of the strike zone. In case you live under a rock, he’s the clubhouse leader on the odds to win the NL Cy Young Award with him the current +175 chalk over at BetRivers to pull off the feat! His opponent for start No. 26 is scheduled to be Hill, but it wouldn’t surprise me to see the Friars go with Nick Martinez or someone else instead as washed the left-hander is at this point of his career. He’s failed to pitch through the fourth in both starts made since coming over from Pittsburgh having last served up seven hits (1 HR) and 3 ER to the Snakes. Zona has won all three of Gallen’s starts against the Padres to date while averaging 10.4 K/9 in those outings. Wash, rinse, repeat against one of the biggest disappointments of the 2023 MLB betting season!
