The day started off with a spectacular comeback win from Julio Rodriguez and co. who plated four combined runs in the eighth and ninth innings to cover the run-line in Kansas City. We cashed our second SGP of the day when Tarik Skubal dominated the Tribe through six innings with 7 K to lead the Tigers to the hard-fought 4-2 road win. Though the D’backs ultimately took the Padres down 3-1 in Petco, we needed more Ks to cash in the 2-legger. Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Cleveland Guardians

What a difference a change of scenery has made for former embattled White Sox hurler Lance Lynn who’s been nothing short of a revelation now throwing for the World Series contending Dodgers. Since changing his address to Tinseltown, the right-hander has simply been remarkable in tossing 25 innings of 17 hit (4 HR) and 3 ER ball with a gorgeous 25:5 K/BB ratio. Los Angeles has won all four of his starts since coming over from the Southside, and he already possesses a win against the Guardians from May 16 when he tossed seven innings of 1 ER ball at Jose Ramirez and his mates. The Guardians will counter with either Gavin Williams or Xzavion Curry in this matchup, but it doesn’t matter to me who ultimately gets the starting nod with Mookie Betts and co. likely to handle either. I’d be giddy if it were the latter since Curry only possesses a 4-seamer and slide piece which just so happen to be the two pitches the Dodgers rake when going by run values offered up at Baseball Savant.

MLB SAME GAME PARLAY: DODGERS MONEYLINE + DODGERS OVER TEAM TOTAL

Boston Red Sox vs. Houston Astros

We’ve been involved financially with the Astros in the second and third games of this series, but we’ll reverse course and back the BoSox to take down the finale with Brayan Bello expected to be on the bump. The second-year hurler has been a boon to my fantasy team with the righty 9-7 and the owner of a 3.70 ERA and solid 100:31 K/BB ratio. Though most hittable in day games (7.33 ERA) and on the road (4.05 ERA), I’ll ignore those inflated outputs knowing full well Houston might’ve already taken the first three games of this extended series. He’ll also possess the added advantage of Yordan Alvarez and his mates not seeing his stuff since August of last season. It also doesn’t hurt that he’s earned the win in each of his last two road starts. While J.P. France continues to be a rock-solid back end of the rotation arm, Boston decimates the 4-seamer and changeup and also sports a number of bats with positive run values against the cutter. This isn’t a good matchup for the right-hander with Boston a game over .500 against that side of the arm platoon and averaging 4.8 runs per game (No. 5).

MLB SAME GAME PARLAY: RED SOX MONEYLINE + FRANCE UNDER PITCHING OUTS

Cincinnati Reds vs. Arizona Diamondbacks

While the Snakes seem to have gotten their groove back taking three straight series against the division rival Rockies and Padres, it didn’t take long for me to pinpoint the opener of this four-game series with the Redlegs as one to get involved in. Brandon Pfaadt remains a fade for me regardless of the right-hander looking like a completely different pitcher since returning to the rotation at the end of July. His 4-seamer and slider have allowed for him to pitch to a sub-3.00 ERA in the month of August, but those two pitch types just so happen to be a pair that Matt McClain and co. rake when going by run values over at Baseball Savant. That just might be the elixir a struggling Cincinnati offense needs with it averaging just over 3.0 runs per game over the last week. That being said, Brandon Williamson offers up zero in the way of confidence with the rookie left-hander issuing 3.3 BB/9 innings and his away/night splits the most alarming in his arsenal. As such, we’ll instead fade both starting arms and look for the offenses to have their way in the “Battle of Brandon’s.”
