MLB Same Game Parlay Picks, Odds & Predictions – Wednesday, August 2
August 1, 2023Wyndham Championship Odds and Picks
August 1, 2023We ended up splitting last Thursday’s MLB Same Game Parlay Picks over at BetRivers Sportsbook to take home a small profit; one of the few positive days for the week. The Mets won but Kodai Senga came a strikeout short of exceeding his K prop while Josiah Gray just slipped past his pitching outs prop. We made it back later in the night when Justin Steele and the Chicago Cubs took it to the Redbirds. Miles Mikolas getting ejected after only throwing two pitches allowed us to easily cash in on the under of his pitching puts prop. Let’s see if we can’t bang out some same game parlay winners on Thursday’s slate – SLAM YOUR MAN!!

Chicago White Sox vs. Texas Rangers
Touki Toussaint is what the White Sox will lean on moving forward with the franchise recently shipping Lucas Giolito and Lance Lynn off to contenders. So far the right-hander has made four starts for the Palehose and lived to tell about them in going 1-2 with a 3.34 ERA and 1.144 WHIP. While he’s tallied 7.5 strikeouts per nine innings, he’s also served up 5.0 walks. As such, he’s averaging just 1.5 K/BB and that simply isn’t going to cut it against a Rangers offense ranked No. 2 in OPS behind only the Braves that rakes RHP for an average of 5.4 runs per game (No. 3). I get that the lineup will be without some capable bats for the immediate future, but Adolis Garcia and co. should still be able to get theirs. That being said, I also expect Chicago to do some damage in Max Scherzer’s Lone Star State debut. Regardless of logging a 9-4 record with the Mets, the righty has been very hittable this MLB betting season evidenced by a 1.189 WHIP and allowing 8.2 hits per nine innings. It remains to be seen if getting out of the Mets’ toxic environment does wonders for his psyche, but for now, I’ll expect him to remain true to form and get banged around a bit in what should play out to a matinee slugfest.

Cincinnati Reds vs. Chicago Cubs
We backed the F5 under in the opener and jumped on the Justin Steele money train for the second game of this pivotal NL Central matchup between the Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs. We sat out Hump Day’s matchup between Brandon Williamson and Drew Smyly, but will get back to attacking the MLB odds in the finale that pits Luke Weaver up against the red hot Jameson Taillon. The former was decent against the Mookie Betts-less Dodgers in his last start in spinning six innings of 1 ER ball, but only managed 2:2 K/BB ratio. For the season, Weaver has been brutal under the lights evidenced by a 7.38 ERA and Chicago’s done some major damage against him in the past (.325). Taillon looked to be a major bust for the Cubs through June, but the righty just closed out a fabulous month of July that saw him go 3-0 with a 2.67 ERA and 24:8 K/BB ratio. The recipe to success has been high heat paired with the secondaries painting the bottom of the zone. He’s limited current bats on the Reds roster to a .229 batting average and has conceded one or fewer earned runs in three of his last four outings. With the series win potentially on the line, I expect his hot streak to continue to help lead Chicago to another win that makes it even tougher for upper management not to become buyers come the trade deadline.

Seattle Mariners vs. Los Angeles Angels
You might want to refrain from listening to anything I have to say about this same game parlay due to the fact that Shohei Ohtani always finds a way to suck whenever I recommend backing him or the Angels in any of his starts. It’s unfortunately been clockwork all baseball betting season long! Be that as it may, I’m going to recommend siding with the Halos in the opener of this crucial extended four-game series with the division rival Mariners. Bryan Woo was on my buy list for a hot minute, but ever since he blew up and allowed the Twins to hammer him for six earned through 3.1 innings back on July 18 the rookie has been traveling down a descending path. Seattle has dropped each of his last four outings with the right-hander allowing 19 hits and 13 ER with a poor 11:6 K/BB ratio in his last 14.1 innings. I think the youngster has hit the proverbial wall. Meanwhile, Ohtani is now the runaway favorite to win the AL MVP with none other than Babe Ruth likely impressed with the way the Japanese import has dominated every aspect of the game. The Angels have won both of his starts against Seattle to date, and you know what they say about things coming in threes.
