MLB Same Game Parlay Picks, Odds & Predictions – Thursday, July 20

Last Thursday’s MLB Same Game Parlay Picks ended up 1-2 over at BetRivers Sportsbook. We cashed in nicely with the Orioles who smoked Luis Severino and the Yankees, but the Reds/Nats and Mets/D’backs failed to play to the high scorers I expected. Let’s see if we can’t bang out some same game parlay winners on this Thursday’s slate – SLAM YOUR MAN!!

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Atlanta Braves

Attention early risers! We got a pitcher’s duel in the making at Truist to kick-off Thursday’s MLB slate and you’re going to want to be involved in some way, shape, or form. I get that this is an early start on the east coast which has been something that’s gotten the best of Zac Gallen to date, but with this being the Braves the right-hander will be running up against, I can’t help but think the competitive juices will be flowing; especially opposing Atlanta ace Spencer Strider. Off his ASG appearance, Gallen only managed to go five mediocre innings at the Blue Jays taking the loss to fall to 2-4 with a poor 5.11 ERA when pitching away from the desert. Though Atlanta has raked RHP for 5.5 runs per game (No. 3), Gallen’s held current Braves’ bats to a collective .218 batting average and .654 OPS all the while registering a 24:6 K/BB ratio. With Strider getting ripped for eight hits (1 HR) and 5 ER in his first showing out of the break against the White Sox, I can’t help but think the righty will be locked in for this start against a Zona offense he held to just three hits and 1 ER with 7 K through six innings back on June 3.

Milwaukee Brewers vs. Philadelphia Phillies

So I faded Corbin Burnes in each of his last two starts and boy did the former favorite to win the NL Cy Young Award at BetRivers make me regret doing as such. All he did was go out and throw 12 combined innings of five hit (1 HR) and 2 ER ball at the Reds while issuing six free passes and racking up a whopping 19 strikeouts. If in fact the right-hander is back to peak form, it will go a long way for the Brew Crew with the NL Central theirs to lose. He’s made one career start and made three appearances against the Phillies and held current bats on the roster to a collective .205 batting average and .680 OPS with 15 K and 5 BB. He’s been flat out nasty on the road where he’s only allowed 42 hits and 23 ER with a K/BB ratio of 64:20 through 61 IP over 10 starts. Though Taijuan Walker has helped lead Nick Castellanos and co. to seven straight wins in his last seven starts, I’m not at all buying into the veteran’s renaissance and believe he’s ripe for the taking. Even so, I can’t argue with his recent results and expect him to do his part to keep the Phillies in this one. In the end however, it will be the Burnes that guts out the win in a low scorer.

MLB SAME GAME PARLAY: BREWERS MONEYLINE + FULL GAME UNDER + BURNES OVER PITCHING OUTS

Detroit Tigers vs. Kansas City Royals

So this Alec Marsh kid made things incredibly tough for us to cash the over of the Rays team total over the weekend. Shockingly, he went right at Randy Arozarena and co. and lived to tell about it by tossing six innings of 2 ER ball while tacking up a career-high 11 strikeouts after only registering five in each of his first two outings. Thankfully, the Rays were able to scratch out four more runs against Kansas City’s wretched bullpen to allow us to cash in on the MLB odds. I’ll pay up to see if the youngster can do it again versus a Tigers offense that just put 11 combined runs on the board against Seattle’s stellar pitching staff before getting shutout in the finale. Detroit is the healthiest it’s been for quite some time right now, and I have this matchup locked in as one of those proverbial get-right spots with it owning the advantage both on the starting bump and at the dish. Michael Lorenzen has seamlessly handled his new starting pitching duties for the Tigers like a pro, and will find himself in a position to log his fifth win of the MLB betting season after contributing to combined shutouts in each of his last two turns.
