May 21, 2024MLB Same Game Parlay Picks, Odds & Predictions – Wednesday, May 22
May 21, 2024It was another rough go of it with last Thursday’s MLB parlay picks after a number of staff aces failed to show. Though Jared Jones just managed to exceed his K prop, the rookie still allowed 3 ER through six innings. That paired with Justin Steele serving up 4 ER through his 5.2 innings cost us a ticket cash on the F5 under. The extra day of rest didn’t do Tyler Glasnow any good after allowing 4 ER through five innings while coming up a strikeout short of toppling his K prop the fifth straight time. Caesars Sportsbook ended up taking some of our coin. Here’s to returning the favor on Thursday’s abbreviated MLB betting slate – SLAM YOUR MAN!!

San Diego Padres vs. Cincinnati Reds MLB Same Game Parlay:
The Padres are running white hot right now. Ever since dropping five straight at the tail end of April, San Diego has been one of the best teams to back on the MLB odds with it logging wins in 11 of its last 16 games ($237). The rate of return would’ve been even more lucrative had it not inexplicably been swept at home by the Colorado Rockies as -243 favorites on average. That being said, this afternoon’s game in the GAB marks the end of a tough seven-game roady that already saw it go into Truist and take the first three matchups from the Braves. With the Yankees in town through the weekend, I can’t help but think Mike Shildt’s troops will have one eye on the Bronx Bombers when they take the field to battle the Redlegs in Thursday’s series finale.
Matt Waldron had his knuckleball cooking last time out in Atlanta where he surprisingly tossed 5.2 innings of 1 ER ball with a season-high 10 K to tally his second win of the season. Even so, the showing only brought his ERA down to 5.00 overall while allowing a healthy 9.4 hits and serving up 3.4 walks per nine innings. When on, the right-hander is a weapon. But when he’s off, the right-hander is a liability more than anything else. While Frankie Montas doesn’t do much to get my juices flowing these days, it’s Elly De La Cruz and Cincinnati’s offense that I’ll bank on leading the team to what could amount to the series deciding win Thursday afternoon.

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Detroit Tigers MLB Same Game Parlay:
I was banging the drum for Kevin Gausman a few weeks back stating there was value being offered on his odds to win the AL Cy young Award over at Caesars. I no longer hold that frame of mind and neither do oddsmakers with his return on investment even better now (+7500) than it was then (+4000). Since then, the right-hander has allowed 21 hits (1 HR) and 9 ER with a solid 20:5 K/BB ratio over 14.1 combined innings against the Nationals, Twins, and Rays. He tallied a lone win during that stretch to enter tonight’s series opener with the Tigers 2-3 with a 4.89 ERA and 3.51 FIP while allowing a bloated 11.3 hits and 2.3 walks per nine innings. While the vet has been at his best on the road (3.06 ERA), it’s been a completely different story under the lights where he’s been tagged for 21 hits (2 HR) and 11 ER with a 6:3 K/BB ratio over three starts that went for just 11.2 total innings.
Toronto’s bullpen has been one of the worst in the game (#28), and it hasn’t been much better over the last week (#23). It will certainly play a role in the series opener with Gausman pitching through the sixth in only one of his three May starts. Jack Flaherty has proven to be a huge offseason get for the Tigers. Though he’s the owner of a 1-3 record, his surface stats paint the picture of a much better W/L record. The righty has painted the bottom of the zone with his breakers enough to the point that he’s the clubhouse leader in called strike + whiffs per Pitcher List. His 2.79 FIP is also a full run lower than his 3.79 ERA, and the righty is averaging an impressive 9.0 K/BB. I expect Gausman to continue having issues on the road against a Tigers lineup that’s averaged 4.9 runs per game over the last week. As such, look for Flaherty to be in a position to score back-to-back wins against the MLB odds for the first time this season!
