MGM Exceeds Marks for Second Quarter
August 7, 2023Fanatics Continues to Make Progress
August 8, 2023We ended up cashing two of three MLB same game parlays at BetRivers Sportsbook last Tuesday night and came a Marlins bullpen implosion away from sweeping the board. Sandy Alcantara deserved to earn his fifth win of the MLB betting season after tossing eight shutout innings at the Phillies, but David Robertson felt otherwise after blowing the save in his Miami debut. The Cubs hung 20 on the Reds to win and easily surpass their team total, while the Padres also won and went over their team total while hanging a crooked number on Lambert. Let’s see if we can add to the bankroll once again with some Tuesday night parlay pick winners – SLAM YOUR MAN!!

Houston Astros vs. Baltimore Orioles
Though Grayson Rodriguez took the loss in his most recent turn at home against the Toronto Blue Jays, the youngster looks to finally be coming into his own after stinking out loud for the O’s earlier in the season. His fastball velocity is up to nearly 99 mph, and while his secondaries haven’t been popping the bottom of the zone, he’s shown enough improvement in his four starts since being recalled for me to suggest backing him in the opener of this litmus test series with the Astros. As spectacular Houston has been away from Minute Maid (32-24 $510), Baltimore clocks in as one of the best home teams in the game (34-21, $572). The O’s possess the best record in the American League and second best in baseball. You have to go back to the middle of July to find the last time they dropped a series opener at home, but Baltimore wasn’t at full strength for that series with the Dodgers. While J.P. France has proven to be a fantastic depth arm and enters this start incredibly hot having helped lead the Astros to wins in each of his last six starts, he ran up against a number of horrific offenses during that stretch. Adley Rutschman and co. will prove to be a different animal!

Chicago Cubs vs. New York Mets
We were deprived of fading Carlos Carrasco his last time out after his start was pushed up to face Kansas City instead of the opener against the Orioles. He still got wrecked for eight hits (2 HR) and 6 ER while registering zero strikeouts. That makes it four straight starts that “Cookie” has been had for at least 4 ER while accruing a 9:6 K/BB ratio through 15.1 total innings of work. It’s sad to say, but his days of dominating Major League bats are all but over. While he owns a career .266 BAA versus current bats on the Cubs roster, Chicago is swinging the sticks at an incredibly tough rate right now and will be tough to tame. Jameson Taillon looks to have really turned things around enough to the point that he can be trusted on the road against a Mets team that looks to have given up on the season. While not overly efficient with his pitch counts as evidenced by pitching through the sixth only once in his last four starts, he’s helped lead the Cubs to wins against the MLB odds in five straight starts and has been better on the road (4.28 ERA) than at Wrigley (6.17 ERA). With early run support certainly in the cards, we could be looking at a rare quality start here.
SAME GAME MLB PARLAY: CUBS MONEYLINE + CUBS OVER TEAM TOTAL
San Francisco Giants vs. Los Angeles Angels
The Lucas Giolito experiment hasn’t gone as planned since the right-hander was brought over from Chicago in a trade deadline deal. The Angels dropped both of his starts since becoming a member of the team and the results weren’t pretty with the righty giving up 14 hits (5 HR) and 12 ER through nine total innings of work. However, each outing occurred on the road against the Blue Jays and Braves who represent two of the toughest offenses in the game. The San Francisco Giants aren’t cut from the same cloth with it ranked amongst the bottom third of the league in the most pertinent of stat categories. Back in the comforts of his new home park where he owns a career 3.86 ERA and .227 BAA through 30.1 innings over five starts, I expect the player Anaheim believed it traded for to show up and go deep by way of the strikeout against the free-swinging Giants who rank No. 27 in K percentage. Logan Webb is by far the best pitcher San Fran has marched to the bump this baseball betting season, but the right-hander has been easier to get to on the road (4.75 ERA) than at home (2.23 ERA) and this will be his first-ever Big A appearance. Look for Shohei Ohtani and his mates to defend their house!
