Indiana Shows Small Dip
July 24, 20232023 ACC Championship Odds and Picks
July 25, 2023We ended up cashing one of three MLB same game parlays at BetRivers Sportsbook last Tuesday night with Arizona coming up huge outslugging Atlanta 16-13 to cash in as lofty road dogs against the MLB odds. One of the two defeats was a major swing and miss with the under in the Ober/Woo matchup, but the Phillies really pissed me off by only beating the Brewers 4-3 even though they outhit them 12-4 and left 10 in scoring position. Let’s see if we can’t add to the bankroll with some more parlay picks – SLAM YOUR MAN!!

New York Mets vs. New York Yankees
For a second there, it looked like the Mets were about to turn things around. But after rattling off six straight wins, New York would drop two straight in San Diego to lose the series going into the break. Coming out of it, Buck Showalter’s squad has only managed to split its first eight games with the lone series win coming against the wretched Chicago White Sox. As it stands, they’re a whopping 18-games out of first place in the NL East and seven-games off the pace in the wild-card chase. Not exactly where most expected them to be at this point of the MLB betting season with the highest payroll of all 30 teams. The team with the second highest payroll – the New York Yankees – just busted out the brooms on Kansas City. While the Royals are unquestionably one of the league’s worst teams, I still came away impressed with the way the Bronx Bombers flexed their muscles late to put each game away. For all intents and purposes, Justin Verlander has been a major flop in going 4-5 with a 3.47 ERA and 7.6 K/9, and he’s been at his absolute worst on the road where his ERA chimes in at 5.18. Domingo German has been nothing special since throwing that perfect game at the end of June, but the Yankees are the side I favor in this matchup with it owning by far the better of the two bullpens and the offense seemingly coming alive.

Cincinnati Reds vs. Milwaukee Brewers
It’s crazy to think tonight’s matchup between Andrew Abbott and Corbin Burnes constitutes the second to last game of the 2023 MLB betting season the Reds and Brewers will play against one another, but it is what it is. We already saw the young left-hander square off against the veteran right-hander once this season, and the advantage went to the latter after he tossed six innings of three hit (1 HR) and 2 ER ball at the Redlegs to log his seventh win of the year. He followed that up by throwing six shutout innings at the Reds in the GAB in his very next start. To date, Burnes has limited Cincinnati to just seven hits (2 HR) and 5 ER with a K/BB ratio of 26:10 through 18 combined innings over three starts. All that said, I’m backing Elly De La Rosa and co. in this fourth go round and fully expect the offense to finally get the best of No. 39. Currently a half-game in back of the Brew Crew for NL Central bragging rights, David Bell’s squad finally got right over the weekend sweeping the D’backs out of Great American to extend its win streak to five straight. Provided Abbott can withstand serving up dingers to the weak hitting Brewers – he’s served up four in the last two appearances – I think the Reds throw a wrench in Burnes’ recent hot streak.

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Los Angeles Dodgers
Holy wow was that an impressive start to the second half for the Dodgers who logged three straight series wins on the road against Mets, Orioles, and Rangers! In doing so, Dave Roberts troops now hold a comfy four-game lead atop the standings after heading into the break tied with the D’backs. Freddie Freeman is currently playing with his hair on fire, but that won’t stop me from fading the home team in this spot with the BJ’s invading Tinseltown looking to make a statement that MLB bettors best not forget about them heading into the home stretch. Toronto has won each of the last five time Chris Bassitt toed the bump, and he’ll enter start No. 22 looking to win a third straight fresh off throwing six shutout innings with 5 K at home against the Padres. Though the righty has been much more hittable on the road (5.81 ERA) than at home (2.24 ERA), he’s only allowed 62 hits and 25 ER with an 84:27 K/BB ratio in the near 90 innings pitched under the lights. He’s been the more consistent pitcher than Julio Urias who still looks to be finding himself four starts removed since coming off the IL. The Blue Jays own a winning 10-8 record versus starting LHP, and I fully expect them to bring their “A” game to the yard throughout this series.
