June 19, 2023My MLB Same Game Parlays went a disappointing 1-1 last Tuesday night. We looked well on our way towards cashing the 3-leg parlay in Kansas City after the Reds and Royals combined for nine runs through three innings, but not a single run was tallied the rest of the way. Brutal! We did however cash the night cap in Seattle where the M’s smashed Edward Cabrera and the Marlins with George Kirby registering a career-high 10 strikeouts. Let’s remain in the black over at BetRivers Sportsbook with tonight’s assortment of parlay picks – SLAM YOUR MAN!!

Atlanta Braves vs. Philadelphia Phillies
It goes without saying how big a series this is for the home standing Phillies who enter the week 38-34 ($-293) and eight-games back in the NL East pennant chase. The team returns to CBP off a highly successful road trip that saw it take three of four from the D’backs and follow it up with a hard-fought sweep of what had been a surging A’s team. It’s now or never for Rob Thomson’s troops to dig in and let it be known the Atlanta Braves won’t be able to just waltz their way to a sixth straight division title. For all the preseason talk of Spencer Strider being a bonafide NL Cy Young Award contender, the right-hander certainly hasn’t lived up to expectations. The 7-2 record masks the fact that he’s the owner of a 4.12 overall ERA, and he enters start No. 15 having been ripped for 18 hits (6 HR) and 15 ER through three June starts. On the flipside, Ranger Suarez has been pitching like a man possessed having allowed a grand total of 4 ER with a 22:7 K/BB ratio over his last four starts. That makes the Phillies worth the squeeze as a midsize home dog, and you might want to entertain the thought of hitting Philly for the series as well!

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Milwaukee Brewers
We’ve successfully faded Colin Rea in each of his last two outings against the Orioles and Twins and came out victorious. Though the right-hander doesn’t offer much to get excited about, he’s been his absolute best at home (4.40 ERA) as well as under the lights (3.86 ERA), and enters his twelfth start of the MLB betting season in much better form than that of his opponent. Ryne Nelson is on the verge of getting bounced from Zona’s starting rotation with the right-hander going off the rails in the month of June. The youngster has been ripped for 20 hits and 8 ER in his last 14.1 innings of work with the 10.6 hits and 3.3 walks issued per nine innings really starting to take a toll. Though the Snakes have proved to be road warriors in winning 20 of 31 games ($1109), the Brew Crew finally just stopped the bleeding with a home sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates that allowed them to reclaim the catbird seat of the NL Central. Milwaukee has been much better against RHP averaging 4.7 runs per game (No. 12) as opposed to ranking dead last against southpaws (2.8 RPG). This game must be had with Kelly going in the opener and Gallen in the finale.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Los Angeles Angels
If ever there was a time to continue piling on the Dodgers, that time is now with the batting lineup decimated by the injury bug and the bullpen ranking out as one of the worst in the game. While the Halos are suffering from some injury issues of their own, I expect Shohei Ohtani and the gang to be way up for this abbreviated Freeway Series with the Dodgers. Clayton Kershaw has been pretty sensational for a pitcher many wrote off in going 8-4 with a 2.95 ERA and solid 10.7 K/9. However, the lefty has been much more human on the road where his ERA bumps up to 3.97 and batting average against to .253. For reference sake, opponents are only batting .191 against him in Chavez Ravine. Reid Detmers is the listed pitcher for this game, but that could change. Hopefully it doesn’t with the right-hander conceding 1 ER in each of his last two starts against the Cubs and Rangers through 11.2 total innings. His stuff looks to be ascending right now enough to the point that I think his recent execution continues against a castrated Dodgers lineup missing a number of potent bats.
