WynnBET Struggles Results in Closures
August 15, 2023ESPN and Penn Entertainment Planning ESPN BET Sportsbook
August 15, 2023We ended up cashing two of three MLB Same Game Parlays over at PointsBet Sportsbook last Tuesday, and came the Orioles’ bats not showing up away from sweeping the board. The night started off with an exhilarating SGP cash on the Phillies after Michael Lorenzen tossed a no-hitter for his new club and MacKenzie Gore failed to go over his pitching outs prop. The Astros held up their end of the bargain plating eight runs to go over their team total, and while Baltimore helped the full game go over, it’s two runs didn’t exceed the team total. The Mariners cashed in as midrange dogs to topple Darvish and the Padres in the finale of their interleague matchup. Here’s to reeling in some green with a Hump Day trio of baseball parlay picks – SLAM YOUR MAN!!

Cleveland Guardians vs. Cincinnati Reds
Only one bid from the AL Central will be released come the postseason with Cleveland currently 11-games out in the wild-card chase and only sitting 4.5-games behind the Twins for division supremacy. Their roster simply isn’t built to eat into the deficit the Rays, Astros, and Blue Jays possess sitting atop the WC standings. As it is, this mini-series with the Reds is extremely important after the team just went into “The Trop” and dropped two of three. That being said, I don’t have much faith in the Guardians with Noah Syndergaard taking the bump for his third turn as a member of the team. The first two outings weren’t great with the righty serving up 15 hits (4 HR) and 6 ER with a decent K/BB ratio of 8:2. Though Cincinnati has had a rough go of it at the plate over the last week in averaging 4.4 runs per game, Matt McClain and co. should be in a good position to hang a crooked number in this spot and give staff ace Andrew Abbott the run supported needed to cruise to the easy win and likely run-line cover.

Houston Astros vs. Miami Marlins
The third and final matchup between the Astros and Marlins will play out Hump Day night in arguably the best pitching matchup of the series. Justin Verlander hasn’t been his quintessential self for most of the season, but the veteran right-hander has been locked in since coming over to Houston at the trade deadline offering up 13 innings of 13 hit (2 HR) and 5 ER ball with a decent 11:2 K/BB ratio. He most recently led Houston to the decided 11-3 win over the Angels, and should be thrilled to run up against a Marlins batting order he’s held to a .208 team batting average with a 25:5 K/BB ratio. I’m not exactly sure what the story is with Jesus Luzardo, but the left-hander must rectify the situation STAT if the Marlins are to actually land one of the wild-card spots it currently holds onto the remainder of the baseball betting season. Since the calendar turned to August, the southpaw has been ripped for 15 hits (5 HR) and 11 ER with a 10:3 K/BB ratio and only lasted 8.2 innings through two starts. That being said, I believe this to just be one of those things. Its baseball and crazy things happen. I still trust him and expect his “A” stuff to return in this heavyweight matchup with the adrenaline flowing. Many will be quick to fade the lefty, so let’s zig while everybody else zags and look for more successful Marlins home cooking!

Chicago White Sox vs. Chicago Cubs
I’m a diehard Cubs fan and know full well that this recent string of success for Javier Assad is nothing more than an anomaly. When Chicago’s rotation was at 100 percent health, he was the long arm brought in to eat up innings. More times than not, he wiggled in and out of trouble but almost always saw the base paths chock full of runners every time he took to the bump. While the White Sox seemingly have absolutely nothing to play for, I expect Eloy Jimenez and co. to invade Wrigley looking to atone for the sin of getting swept back in late July and getting outscored 17-10 in the two played games. The Palehose would be in an even better position to hang a crooked number against Assad if Luis Robert Jr. is back in the lineup with his bat one of the best Chicago possesses at teeing off on the cutter per Baseball Savant. Mike Clevinger has enjoyed some moderate success in his return from the IL allowing 13 hits and just 4 ER with an 11:4 K/BB ratio in his three made starts. However, they occurred against the skeleton crew that is the Yankees as well as a pair versus the Guardians No. 27 ranked scoring offense. Cody Bellinger and co. will prove to be a much different animal. I expect the bullpens to be involved in short order!
