August 22, 2023TOUR Championship Matchup Picks
August 23, 2023We ended up cashing one of three MLB Same Game Parlays over at PointsBet Sportsbook last Tuesday to continue our downswing attacking the MLB betting odds – pigskin season can’t get here soon enough! The night started off with a worry-free SGP ticket cash on Andrew Abbot and the Reds who dominated the Guardians as expected. I wish it ended there! Jesus Luzardo seems to be broken with the lefty getting ripped for another 5 ER while failing to pitch through the fourth in back-to-back starts. The end result was Miami getting thrashed 12-5. The White Sox and Cubs combined to leave 30 on base in a game that had no business staying under – None! Here’s to reeling in some green with a Hump Day trio of baseball parlay picks – SLAM YOUR MAN!!

Chicago Cubs vs. Detroit Tigers
I can’t wait to see how my team of choice handles what looks to be a locked in Tarik Skubal to kick off Hump Day’s MLB betting slate. His player page at Pitcher List remains a sea of red even though the Tigers’ right-hander continues to give up quite a bit of hard contact (No. 130). Ranked No. 4 in ground ball rate and No. 1 in xERA, Chicago will have its hands full attempting to put runs on the board in cavernous Comerica Park while he’s on the bump. The Cubs sport a below average K rate as a team (No. 18), and it gets even worse when on the road (No. 22). As such, Skubal will be in a position to log another high strikeout tally having logged 29 through his last 25 innings of work. On the flipside, I expect Jameson Taillon to continue his recently steady output against a Detroit offense averaging fewer than 4.0 runs per game against right-handed pitching. Look for an early pitcher’s duel to playout with the game undecided until the bullpens take over.

Washington Nationals vs. New York Yankees
Now four-games under .500 for the season and losers of eight straight games, it’s pretty safe to assume the Yankees won’t be taking the remainder of the season seriously. I can’t really blame them either with the amount of damage the injury bug has done to the clubhouse the first five months of the baseball betting season. Luis Severino has been a detriment to the team all year long, and I don’t foresee his fortune changing much in this spot against a Washington team that continues to show spunk even though it sits 11-games under the breakeven point and in last place of the NL East. Washington will be a team to gauge next season with it clocking in as the second most profitable team to back on the MLB odds ($1,922) behind only the Baltimore Orioles. The Yankees are not with the team costing their wagering supporters upwards of $1,200 overall and sitting eight-games under .500 in the Bronx. The book is still out on Mackenzie Gore, but the lefty is currently throwing some of his best ball since earlier in the season. All these scenarios have me siding with the Nats to bite as moderate sized road dogs.

Boston Red Sox vs. Houston Astros
I recommended backing Urquidy and the Astros last night when it was expected Chris Sale would be his running mate in the second game of this extended four-game series. Since then, Boston decided to push his start back yet another day to go in the third game against Justin Verlander. My opinion remains the same – the left-hander is back in the rotation too soon with the Red Sox attempting to squeeze anything they can get out of him. That’s not a wise choice in my opinion with the Astros just suffering an embarrassing home sweep at the hands of the white hot Seattle Mariners. Though the BoSox remain in the thick of the wild-card chase sitting 3.5-games out entering Monday’s opener, I just don’t see this team competing in the second season. Houston on the other hand is every bit as good as their +700 odds at PointsBet are to win the World Series with their offering the shortest of all American League teams. While more confident backing Urquidy than Verlander, I’ll still roll with the same SGP suggested for Tuesday night’s game.
