PointsBet Sale Takes an Unexpected Turn
June 20, 2023Travelers Championship Matchup Picks
June 21, 2023Last Wednesday’s MLB Same Game Parlays started off great at PointsBet Sportsbook with Bailey Ober leading the Twins to the win over the Brewers and Colin Rea going over his hits allowed prop. Unfortunately, we would drop our next two SGP’s with the Angels failing to show up against Andrew Heaney in the third game of the extended series and Justin Verlander coming just one more out from allowing us to cash on his performance. NY did however walk it off in extras to cash on the moneyline and held the Yankees under their team total. Money was made if you bet everything individually and that’s the ultimate goal! Here’s to reeling in some green on Hump Day’s slate – SLAM YOUR MAN!!

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Miami Marlins
So are we going to get the good or bad Sandy Alcantara for his 15th start of the baseball betting season? I’m banking on the former with the reigning NL Cy Young Award winner just getting his salad tossed by the Washington Nationals who raked him for 10 hits (1 HR) and 5 ER through 5.1 innings of work. Though the righty has shockingly had a rough go of it at home evidenced by a 4.63 ERA, he’s only allowed the opposition to bat .213 against him in those seven starts. He’ll also enter this tilt against the potent bats of the Blue Jays with a chip on his shoulder having not logged a win since May 24 in Coors. Kevin Gausman has been a bona fide ace for Toronto since day one, and I don’t expect that to change in this spot running up against a Marlins offense that hits for average (No. 9), but struggles to score runs on a consistent basis (No. 26). The finale of this interleague set has pitcher’s duel written all over it and I’m buying in hook, line, and sinker! Feel free to go F5 if you want to bypass the pens.

Chicago Cubs vs. Pittsburgh Pirates
After being forced to deal with a couple righties to kick off the series, the Cubs will get a chance to sink their teeth into another lefty in the finale. Though Rich Hill has had all kinds of success against his former team throughout his career, this year’s squad is cut from a different cloth when it comes to teeing off on LHP. Only the Braves, Rays, and Rangers are averaging more than the 5.6 runs per game Chicago is putting on the board against southpaws this MLB betting season. For one reason or another, Hill has been at his absolute worst in the friendly pitching confines of PNC Park where he’s the owner of a 4.60 ERA all the while averaging just 2.38 K/BB. Though the Buccos own the better record than Chicago going into this series, it’s pretty clear as day that the Cubs are the better overall team when healthy. They proved that by busting the brooms out on them in Wrigley last week while averaging 9.3 runs per game. Look for the fun to continue and end with a bang in the finale!

Boston Red Sox vs. Minnesota Twins
What a rollercoaster season it’s been for RHP Sonny Gray who enters his fifteenth start 4-1 with a glimmering 2.37 ERA and 2.55 FIP. However, things have taken a dramatic turn for the worst since the calendar turned to May with the veteran earning a decision in just one of his last eight starts. It just so happened to be a loss. Regardless, only 36 percent of his starts have been of quality and he’s serving up 7.9 hits and 3.6 walks per nine innings. Making this start all the more tough is that Boston has peppered him to the tune of a .302 batting average and .992 OPS with Justin Turner and Alex Verdugo having the most success against him. I think many MLB bettors are sleeping on Garrett Whitlock who has conceded two or less earned runs in his four made starts since returning from the IL at the end of May. Each of his last two outings have been of quality. More importantly, the Red Sox are yet to lose with him on the bump since getting back into the rotation. Minnesota has had all kinds of issues with the sinker, changeup, and slider per Baseball Savant, and that’s the exact repertoire the righty will throw at them tonight.
